I believe it's ILLEGAL in Canada to not pay for a co-op student/employee. If it's not, it should be. You will work and you will continue to have expenses. Too many companies that used to not offer at least a reasonable pay for co-op students were taking complete advantage of what they just saw as free labour. Then those students come back after 4 months having not learned very much, which is the whole point of a co-op semester & program. I hope international students don't take unpaid placements.
