I was actually watching some Ni videos last night. Nice explanation. So INTJs are not keen to show, or speak about what's going on with their Ni, but INFJs are and actually seem to get some jollies from letting others know about those "cryptic" messages. Got it and agreed.

I think this is why so many of us are often mistaken for INTJs. Personally, I need to share my opinions, thoughts, and feelings with my friend group to organizE them in my own head and heart. It's weird, but I almost don't have complete clarity of my thoughts and feelings until I've worked them out aloud. And yes, that sometimes means reading aloud, talking or writing out a problem to ourselves.

I totally get the human-centred focus of an INFJ but it should be noted that we are also good at innovative thinking in purely technical terms. I am an audiophile and using Ni-Ti have had what I believe to be an original technical idea which I am turning into a small business hopefully with a patent.
There is an original connection to people, Fe, through the music which the hifi reproduces.
Ni-Ti is a very useful mental tool for breaking things down into first principles and finding the best solutions by working up, whether that is human or technical issues.

Interesting insights as usual Ren - many thanks :). I was thinking while you spoke that a lot of the character differences between INFJ and INTJ are rooted in primary / tertiary interactions. Both of us often
spend a lot of time reflecting inwardly before we get anywhere near our secondary on the big issues that matter to us. Both types struggle with the individuation of the ideas buried in their insights, but INFJs obsess internally over their correctness, INTJs over what ought to be. This spills over into the way we express things to others through our secondaries with INTJs acting more authoritatively, even dogmatically, than INFJs. But it isn't at all pejorative - some of the the most loyal people I know have been INTJs for example.

This is one of the most clear and practical explanations of the Ni function I have come across. I often feel unsatisfied when trying to get at the center of how the function works. Your explanation puts it into words that make so much sense. I can relate to what you’ve described. Thanks for sharing these thoughts!

I like to think of Ni as overall human potential. Each introverted function is concerned with the self but I feel that Ni is more so projecting a vision of what the self could be or what we want it to be, the subjective factor of intuition.
To want something is to be projecting into the future, and juxtapose it with the present moment like Se.
When I think of Ni-Se I think of willpower and force.

People with Ni-Se in their stack continually try to break their limits, push themselves forward or just trying to see the extent of one's abilities.
I skipped a lot of nuance to keep it brief.

Ni is visualizing while Ne is imagination they are part of a whole but is this is the inclination.

Si-Ne is also very admirable.
Their mode of doing things is habitual in a more pronounced way.
Si users repeat their daily rituals and if we fast forward into the future we see the vast improvement that comes from repeated action or endurance Si.
what's interesting also is that Ne seems to like mental exercise for the sake of it and Se physical or factual exercise.
We can see this in extremes with people doing crazy stunts and people over intellectualizing things like Vsauce.

Both Ni-Se and Si-Ne are interestingly cool

I intuitive feel that the difference between an INTJ and INTJ is driven by the balance between their thinking and feeling functions. I have 50:50 thinking and feeling. Although I identify more with INFJ because if my Fe I think my intuition functions more like that of an INTJ.

I think any wise inputs from others came early on from my INFJ mother. Can't remember any wisdoms from others in my adulthood. ie, INFJ learning from the tribe was observational or from questioning, ie raw data not something preprocessed by others.

Also, makes me think what a huge impact the surrounding types would have in early childhood. NT was being sprayed all over me from birth. I was never going to grow up illogical. Or being allowed to express negative emotions. TF for my mother type-twin 🥰

I think the INTJs "public" processing of their Ni is based upon the notion of why even bother bouncing this information off of people (the public) when they have not shown any competence along the lines that would be discussed. In this sense it's kind of a function of avoiding a waste of time and resources. It being either misunderstood or a throwing of pearls before swine. The default of the INTJ being that most people either don't care or are uninformed about certain topics that the INTJ is concerned about.

Is INTJ Ni social?

INTJs and INFJs both use their Ni and can often reach the exact same solution to a problem, but the way they analyze the situation (Fe vs Te) is completely different.

An hypothetical example for instance could be as follows: an INTJ, an INFJ and their mutual friend Person C are due to meet in a room. Person C had a job interview few weeks ago.

In the meeting the INFJ notices Person C looks sad, just by analyzing the body language and microexpressions (Se Fe).

The INFJ comes to the conclusion, they need to talk to their friend (Person C) for longer, as the job interview went wrong (Ni).

In contrast the INTJ has looked at previous Whatsapp messages between person C prior to the meeting. Normally the INTJ communicates to person C every 2 weeks. The INTJ notices a recent change in pattern, that person C has not contacted them for 4 weeks; also the INTJ recalls a recent job interview approaching for Person C in their last discussion together (Se Te).

The INTJ comes to the conclusion, they need to talk to their friend (Person C) for longer, as the job interview went wrong (Ni).

That both the INTJ and INFJ have found the same solution (Ni) to to the same social problem, but got there by taking completely different paths (Te vs Fe).

Could you say INTJs want to change the world, Te, to suit themselves, Fi?
And INFJs want to change others, Fe, to suit their own logic, Ti?

It seems to me that Fi child users, like IXTJs can be pretty selfish. They see morality as necessary and something that is important, but it’s not a primary or even secondary consideration for them. It’s an intellectual rather than instinctual motivation. I’ve known and still know a few ISTJs and see some common characteristics- emigrate readily, culture vultures, affable and jolly when engaging with people, conventional in general but not usually wrt religions, avoid depth in subjects, naivety over romance, pretty selfish, very organised, broad music tastes but not overly bothered or sophisticated, show affection with material gifts, enjoy eating, generally quite open minded and tolerant but more because they are emotionally detached.

I find intj closed minded and stubborn. Even given inconvertible proof, they will deny what is true. They are really smart logically but sometimes there is a paradigm shift and they cannot envision it and act hostile. I prefer the openness of infj.
