Raspberry Pi Tutorial: 5' Inch Touch Screen from Waveshare setup and testing

Using a Raspberry Pi A+ with a 5 inch touch screen is so fun! In this video I am setting up the 5" touch display from Waveshare and I test it. As you can see it makes things so much easier. You don't need to use an external monitor any more. All you need is your fingers! Great, let's see what we can make with this display in the future!

Fantastic, another video with just the information that I need. You make things that are really quite complex very simple and you have saved me a lot of time. Many thanks.
Best wishes

The fact that this display connects directly with the Pi and secures it on the back makes be want to build a tablet. I believe you can fit a bettery in between right?

I was hoping to find a way to setup the touch screen for use with all my operating systems specifically ubuntu mate. I tried installing the driver but when i try to run the calibration software i get error messages saying theres no compatible device.

Did you power the LCD instead of the Raspberry Pi?

How is the display turned on/off? I am thinking about moving the raspberry into a 19" rack with a display for my house automation. However I wouldn't want that the display is on the whole time due to its power consumption.
Best would be if the display dims or goes into standby mode and goes on again at an touch event.
Is that possible with that display, did you try that?

Hello! Any chance for a tutorial to use the typical Arduino screen selling for five or less bucks on Aliexpress derived from a NDS? It would be very helpful and interesting, you explain it all amazingly well.

Hello Nick! I do enjoy your channel, congratulations! I wonder if you plan to do a tutorial on how to use a cheap touch screen display shield with Arduino Uno... it would be great to use Arduino without having to set up external physical buttons.
