I like that Meryl's immediate response to "I'm going back to where I belong" wasn't "you don't belong there/you belong with me" but instead was "I can't go with you" because it shows that Merle went through character development too. Season 1 Merle probably would have said that or mocked him in some way but season 3 Merle recognized that he's right but knows he himself doesn't belong with that group, but doesn't want to be left alone and separated from his brother again. I forget how good the writing used to be in this show

Glenn was my favorite in the whole series. he was compassionate while still being smart

Merle could've really been a good asset to the group, but he was just as the wrong time and place. Because of how merle grew up he couldn't live normal around people too much.
