@EnhancedImagination It certainly is. The 3D compositing, text tools and automated motion blur and depth of field open up some very cool possibilities for mograph stuff.

We've got lots of tutorials that use tracking. There's a few basic ones, plus the Iron Man repulsors video is a good one to start with.

This tutorial was made back in September. HitFilm Ultimate does indeed have full optical flow-powered feature tracking now. :) So that would make things like the lightning much, much easier and faster.

Lightsabers are potentially tricky things as sometimes they move so fast that it's not quite possible to track them successfully.

The demo version is fully functional except for some export limitations, so you can certainly try out all of these features. :)

@EnhancedImagination AE is much more expensive and has been around for many years. However, we've got big plans to keep on improving HitFilm. So it always depends on your budget and what specifically you want to do - for a lot of things we're equal to AE, and if you're looking to do particle stuff HitFilm is a very good move, as you'd need an expensive plugin on top of AE's price to get that. I'd say try the demos!

As for affordability - indie film is what interests us, so we price accordingly.

@AgentNickyPickles You can't import actual 3D meshes into HitFilm. It's a cool idea to be sure, but has complex rendering implications that would need to be worked out.

@EnhancedImagination Did you unzip the project file and the media to the same folder? Sounds like it can't find the video/image. You can relink them from the Media panel, or when you first load the project.

way cool, I dont know if I can do this with a demo version or not, but I can try and see what I can come up with. I hope to get the Hitfilm Ultimate by next august maybe sept hopefully, man I hate being strapped for cash.
