That performance with Ann and Gill at 49:00 is Oscar level.

I remember seeing this as a kid in the early 60’s. Houston had a program called “Weird” that came on I think Saturday nights. Played all of the classic spook movies, Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf-man, and the low-budget sci-fi space stuff. Really great.
Would scare the crap out of me but I always watched them.
Seeing them now brings back memories as a kid.

The Hideous Sun Demon is one of the greatest film titles ever conceived, too bad hes virtually non existent during most of the movie, ya just gotta luv the relevancy inducing colorization, the same colorizing technology used during the 1980s? sure looks like it.

Patricia Manning palying the roll of Ann Russell but was introduced as early as Miss Lansing the lab tech. Later she is called Ann. IMDB have character listed as Miss Lansing.

Ah, my Sunday matinee as a kid, mid-1960s.
You know, as I think about it, monster movies were shown on TV usually on Fridays. Sometimes in the afternoon, usually Friday night, and for sure late Friday night. Same on Sturdays. Sundays not often. At the movies, usually Friday, or Saturday night. And on a Sunday afternoon. Not all the time, but, usually. Great memories!

No brain cell was injured during producing this film.

You know, if this movie had a camera operator who could compose a decent shot, an editor with an understanding of timing, bit actors who could act, and a director who understood to get enough coverage this could have been a decent little flick for the time. Clarke does a sincere turn as a reptilian Larry Talbot, the script is ok for what it is and the sun monster is great for the year it was made.

One line of hokey dialogue and they all drive back home, meanwhile the brave Police Officer is still stuck up the top of the Gas Holder... So much for teamwork.

The colorization algorithm is still in its infancy: shifting, uncertain, sickly colors.

11:31 "...as you know all life on earth began with the one cell animals...it took several million years to evolve, to form as complex as the mammals, as man."
Today you would probably no longer find such a decidedly clear statement in an entertainment film in the USA.
