Two beachcombers with a yacht join woman-with-a-past Rita on a quest for black pearls on a secret island. Arrived, they find another white man has made himself high priest; but George, the latter’s handsome son, is fair game for Rita, who lands in the guise of a missionary! The inevitable conflict over the pearls brings violence and corruption to the quiet island.

A Classic Tiki Noir South Seas Adventure!

As formulaic & mechanical as the Hollywood studio system was, the shear volume of pictures being made insured that from time to time there would be some superb B-movies.

RKO was considered a second tier quality studio, but at one point it was responsible for some of the biggest hits in movie history, iconic titles like Citizen Kane, King Kong, & Top Hat.

This film was one of last of the hugely expensive B films RKO made under Howard Hughes the year he lost control of RKO, which explains the big Tiki set pieces & location shots.

Not as thrilling as the far less expensive to make Republic Film's south seas classic 'Wake Of The Red Witch', Pearl is still a kick, and an essential watch for any serious aficionado of Mid Century Polynesian Pop & Kitsch Tiki Culture...

Thank you for the Finnish subtitles! All my grandparents were from Finland. Grew up hearing all my relatives speaking Finnish. Men sturdy and directed in good troupe of following lead of superior characters, . Revelry a nice touch, . Some happiness at conclusion of plot, . Leading actresses and actors impressive in appearances.

I'm always suprised when in one minute all the problemes are solved... Cause it's time to finish the film. But apart of that, interesting to see that as they did to native americains whites take these men as children : they obéi, don't think for themselves, think everybody is kind. 2- The image of the woman going one man to another one, swearing she'll be hers and seems to finish with the first loved not having a seeing for the stabed one she was ready to leave evetything for him (even change personnality😂) ...we, women grew up with these images of beeing smaked is normal (hold your tongue and obéi) and greedy and with double feelings as it was normal..it was... Only cause men wrote and direct films at that time. Seeing these films now I can analyse the context I grew in. It is a gift cause I can understand where the conditionners came from. Thank you very much to your channel
