This is the kind of movie that English cinema excels at. Top notch acting, great characters, a wonderful script, very low threat level, even very little drama really. A great, character-driven narrative with almost no budget, dealing gently but effectively with some big ideas. Thanks for sharing this fantastic treat.

Nice to watch a film with no special effects, just plain acting and a good story.

"… a craft that has traveled millions of light years…" - from Venus; hmm, must have taken the swing by Alpha Centauri route to Earth. He definitely was a politician. I love the old sci-fi movies and this one is good example. As always, Patricia Neal’s acting was top notch.

Patricia was also the leading lady friend to Klaatu the alien man in the 1951 movie The Day The Earth Stood Still.

What a cast for such a small, basically simple film. Patricia Neal, Helmut Dantine, and Derek Bond all have excellent movie credentials - I wonder how in the world they were convinced to participate! Neal really shines, but both men do a fine job.

wow, this movie is as old as me and it's message is still relevant in 2023. Thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you.

This movie is all about what's happening now, it's amazing the foresight the writer had in 1954.

That was a truly wonderful movie. The special effects were minimal and tasteful. It was an emotional thriller with superb acting and story line. A good story will trump special effects every time.

This is the most tragic, yet beautiful story I have ever seen. I hope his prayers were answered as well...

I'd never even heard of this movie, but the dialogue and acting were surprisingly refined and understated, very much in the pattern of its A-listed prequel, The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Note that this film was made only 7 short years after the first big UFO sighting, at Roswell. Very few space alien films had been made, and it was long before the false narrative from the US Air Force started the weak "weather balloon" coverup excuse. Obviously many early UFO researchers teamed up to create the script for this rare gem.

We are used to movies into which have poured millions for SFX, VFX, prosthetics and more but, if you put all of that out of your mind you can watch this as a very good s-f film for 1954. Nothing campy or absurd even by the standards of that time. For me the greatest pleasure was the excellent, slightly understated script with naturalistic dialogue that neither insulted the intelligence of the audience nor was it cringey. A well made film that doesn't creak when viewed today. Thank you Great Uploader!!

For a 1954 movie, that was surprisingly sophisticated.

I have to thank you for presenting this fine movie in 'color'! I watched it earlier in B/W. But, color brings all the home furnishings, plates on the shelves, wallpaper, etc. alive. (Most people do no have that many Cuckoo Clocks.) Even the antique electronic equipment looked new...🇺🇸 😎👍☕
