I bought some share of Xiaomi last week. I want to buy more on the next downturn in share price. Back in the 1990s, I bought a ton of Geely stock when they stopped making refrigerators and started making cars. I am up almost 1000% in profit from Geely. I think Xiaomi will also do extremely well based on:1) how these vehicles are made, 2) the fact that they are a company with a wealth of background in electronics 3) they have deep pockets money-wise. BYW, I owned stock till their cellphones were blacklisted in the US. I wish now that I did not sell the stock.

The difference between fisker and other American brand car companies and the Chinese is that the Chinese have their own factory their own giga press IDRA has contracts with Xiaomi BYD, Nio Xpeng Geely, Changan Huawei Chery GAC and Li Auto etc and have their own supply chain for batteries etc
So that’s the reason why Fisker went bankrupt because they only got contract manufacturing xD

BYD posted a 28.1% automotive Gross Margin in 1Q... that is significantly better than "breaking even" and better than Tesla. Also BYD vehicle sales in April were up 49% YoY, while sales of Chinese-made Teslas were down 18% YoY and 30% MoM in April.

I watched a short video of a demo of Xiaomi's voice control system. I think anyone watching that demo will think to themselves

If the car is as incredible as that voice control system, I think Xiaomi has an incredible future.

the reason why Chinese in particular are taking pride with Xiaomi is not because it is such a wonderful car with great specs since other chinese EVs have great technologies also...i, personally believe zeekr 007 is more attractive and original ..
the reason IMO it is a national thing...Apple worked on EV cars for 10 years burning $ 1 bill per year on average, as per reports, and xiaomi with no past experience in the field, came out with a EV car loaded with tech complimented by a process which would make Elon proud of them... in 3 years. they worked from scratch and showed Apple and the world how something like this was possible. it is more of a national pride i believe than the quality of the car. it is a great engineering feat nontheless and as Huawei phones found so much support nationally due to their ban by the US, xiaomi EVs will also receive a similar type of affection inside of China.

Have had several Xiaomi products and they have been great. However, there are always negatives to any hype. There are a number of YouTube videos out there regarding SU7 issues including poor brakes resulting in accidents, false performance claims, substandard protection of EV battery, poorly located air tank for air suspension located near the rear bumper prone to damage, etc. I am sure some of these problems can be ironed out over time, but this is why I wouldn't want to be an early adopter. However, it's an impressive first go in such a short development time frame.
