I'm a woodworking noobie and just wanted to share budget hand tools that I think are useful as well as tips to choose the right ones from my experience. Again, you don't need everything to start with (I got them little by little for the past 6months) but get the right ones for you as needed bases by your own choice.

I totally agree. I didn't want to invest a lot of money in tools, just in case I couldn't do it, so I bought inexpensive ones. I am now expanding to better quality, not expensive, to improve my project outcome. Thanks for sharing your findings, it's important for beginners to know these things. There is so much at the hardware store it's overwhelming. :))

I saw this video months ago, and it did really help push me to get my first few tools but then the algorithm never brough me back to this channel.

Now that I'm looking to up my skills a little, I'm looking stuff up on the old youtube university and refound your tutorials, great stuff man! You have such a fun personality, you can tell that when you make videos that you're just happy we're here and enjoying the content.

A true complete minimalist list. Maybe add a few clamps to hold your work. For the saw, why not a Ryouba with both rip & crosscut? I hardly use my dozuki, I use the ryouba all the time.

I really like the minimalist approach you take. Might you show us your shooting board for Japanese planes? I've seen plenty for western style planes, but not for Japanese.

I read your description and was wondering what your very first woodworking project was. You said you just started woodworking in 2021? But you have created some intricate-looking items from what I can tell. So I was wondering how the first project turned out to compare to more recent items.
