Our woodwork teacher in high school also pushed us to always use non-mechanical tools, pick up the principles etc. and it was a great approach

Thanks for having the good sense to NOT assume those of us starting out already have table saws, band saws, planers, or routing tables, or the budget to acquire them (are you listening YouTubers?).
