5 Power Tools Beginners Should Buy #woodworking

These are the first power tools I think most beginner woodworkers should buy.

I built furniture for 30 years before buying a drill press, mitersaw, or bandsaw using these five power tools plus some hand tools. A tracksaw is nice, but it is not a replacement for a tablesaw.

Impact driver although nice a drill can do the same thing, Circular saw the table and Miter can do 98 percent of the jobs.

This is the list for the anxious man:

1. Jigsaw, you can't cut anything without a saw. Jigsaw is the safest.
2. Drill, this is when you upgrade from hammer & nail.
3. Sander, if you're tired hand sanding.
4. Circular saw, if you DIY the track, you aint gonna need that monster back-kicker table saw.
5. Miter saw, eventually you will work on bigger lumber.
6. Hand planner, if youre patiently practicing it long enough, you can flat surface quite precisely by hand (no need for thicknesser or jointer)

7. Palm router, at this point you can transform palm router into router table. And at this point you should be having some 15 useful jigs.

8. Drill press. This is where your power tool purchase journey can stop & maximize what you have. Still, you will still buy many other non powered tool. Which is way way less sinful.

I'd say a drill press before a mitre saw but to each their own.

I just bought that skil table saw, and at 279 it is a beast so far. Much better than my older ryobi saw. I just need a decent quality router to broaden my woodworking

A plunge router with a power between 1000 and 1400 watts is more versatile than a trim router

Got a jig, miter and track. No need for a circular saw. Too dangerous and I love the clean cuts of a 60T track/miter blade

Noone needs a driver a drill is way better you only need a driver for nuts and bolds not for screws they are just louder slower and unnecessary for woodworking 😂

Id actually say table saw and miter saw before a circular saw.
I rarely find a use for a circular saw that cant be done with a table or miter saw.
