In 2008, Dr. Eben Alexander’s brain was severely damaged by a devastating case of bacterial meningitis, and he lapsed into a week-long coma. It was almost certainly a death sentence, but Dr. Alexander miraculously survived – and brought back with him an astounding story (told in his best-seller "Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife").

During seven days in coma, he was plunged into the deepest realms of consciousness, and came to understand profound truths about the universe we inhabit. What he learned completely violated everything he ever knew about brain, mind and consciousness, and drove him to question some of the most fundamental assumptions of conventional science, leading to a complete flip from his former worldview.

About Dr. Eben Alexander
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Alexander received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1980. He taught neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School in Boston for fifteen years and has performed over 4,000 neurosurgical operations. During his academic career he authored or co-authored over 150 chapters and papers in peer reviewed journals, authored or edited five books on radiosurgery and neurosurgery, and made over 230 presentations at conferences and medical centers around the world. Dr. Eben Alexander spent over 25 years as an academic neurosurgeon, including 15 years at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, the Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. He thought he had a very good idea of how the brain generates consciousness, mind and spirit... until he had a near-death experience.

The one thing that blows me away is just how smart Eben Alexander truly is, the guy is brilliant!!!! It’s so refreshing to hear a man of science talk about consciousness the way he does. Earlier today ( you tube) I was listening to an MIT physicist talk about how science sees consciousness. Never once in the whole hour did they ever talk about anything Alexander talks about. They just don’t want to admit that there is a universe with a higher power and we’re in it. They stayed away from it like it was the plague!!! This guy Alexander is exactly what I want to hear!!

So glad Eben also mentioned Emperor Constantine removing Christ's original teaching of reincarnation from the scriptures. That is an absolute fact. Christ's original teachings were in perfect accord with Sanatana Dharma until Constantine and Justinian got hold of them.

I am fascinated with this subject. I don’t know if I’m a true believer. I imagine I would be more so if I actually had one myself. I’m certainly open to the idea. If we are eternal, I don’t want to be a human again. I’d be ok with merging with pure consciousness.

I like his focus on multiple incarnations here. We are all born with a plan. Some people clearly seem to have experience carried in the soul that is beyond their years in this lifetime.

The plan we are born with may be difficult for our human minds to orientate, but I think great skills and gifts we are born with have a lot to do with a long history incarnations, and a tailored plan.

I think we can understand better that Consciousness and Memory is not the same as Mind and Brain, because we have now something called 'iCloud'; iCloud has nothing to do with clouds, however, we do understand that 'stuff' can be stored outside your computer and Downloaded back into the gadget.
