For me, exercising in a fasted state is more a psychological habit. Kind of that olde fashioned paradigm which says work first, then reward.

I like to finish dinner before 6:00pm and workout fasted at 8:00am to 10:00am.
I usually break my fast with bone broth or a protein shake loaded with goodness around noon. I workout every 2nd day and walk a ton the off days usually with an 18 to 20 hour fast with the odd OMAD.
I just rarely get hungry in less then 18 hours. Occassionally I eat carbs and bigger meals with a nice bottle or two of wine. After that I crave getting back into my old routine.
I was 320 lbs now 200 lbs and strong at 62 years old.

I’m 60 years old and workout 6 days a week in a fasted state (16 hours after my last keto meal). It feels absolutely amazing and the results are beyond what I expected. I have a hard time wrapping my head around eating carbs now, but I may give your suggestion a try.

Every time I think of something or have a question you post it the next day! Love this channel! Went from 285 to 205 all while building a good amount of muscle in 6 months! Thanks for being a guide on my journey!

I've been training twice a day, cardio in the morning fasted. Eat my first meal at noon. Second meal at 400ish. Lifting 7pm. It's been working well. Melting off a pound a day somedays. Quite a few actually down 36 pounds since January, but fasting keto for the last couple weeks when I hit a plateau. Feeling great!

Every time I have a question, Thomas De Lauer is the one who answers it the most thoroughly in the shortest amount of time. He even outdoes Ben Greenfield in his detail from time to time. Such a fantastic resource.

I always train in fasted state.. recently, I don't know is because this corona madness, I train fasted, alone, outside.. but Thomas told you one thing that you all need to know... Not in this video... But I'm watching him over two years now.. when I'm on my bike and cycling... You don't have to eat right after workout... Just get enough protein etc during the day... You dont have to eat right away... I personally never do that... And I'm on 2-22... 185 cm - 100 kg... (Don't know american measurements)... Listen to this guy... He had knowledge, good tips and advice

Today i ate before workout and honestly I felt so energized that i feel i can do much more than when not eating enough. So, i’m planning on keeping on doing this! It helps me to do way more! GOD bless!

I like Thomas exactly because he is curious and doesn't believe everything is black or white at any cost. He doesn't say "This is the best!", he says "This might be better in that situation". And this is how I personally feel about dieting and exercise. Experiment, try to improve, no dogmas, stay curious.

The fact that I can do intense workouts when I’ve been fasting for 24+ hours is so crazy.

Please don’t stop the Biology/ chemistry talk simply because people are too simple minded to understand it. I need that info.

This guy is legit. I'm a nurse and I have been a long time. All this stuff makes sense and I cross reference it with many sources

Thank you for discussing this issue. Ever since I adapted to keto, I've wondered whether or not to exercise in a fasted state.

Thanks, Tom, brilliant info. I'm no athlete, just an ordinary middle aged person seeking better health & body composition. But now I won't worry about the odd fed workout, & will actually ensure I get one or two weekly. (I'd been wracking my brains about when to excercise/ fast etc... this makes my planning SO much easier! 😁 Cheers!👍 You are looking fabulous, as usual!

I love the term training low. My dad always told me that our body doesn’t need as much food as we think. My mom always says the opposite.. always nurturing me with food that I didn’t really need otherwise I would get “shaky” or dizzy. I got confused which was better (to fast or not to fast?). I learned I always feel better exercising somewhat fasted (last meal being 8-16 hours prior) and keto gives me the best energy. Eating healthy fat is amazing 🤩 this is so awesome !
