At its peak, House of Cards was the crown jewel of Netflix, proving that streaming services could compete with traditional TV networks. The political thriller captivated audiences and transformed Netflix from a DVD rental company into a powerhouse of original content. But everything changed when the show’s lead was embroiled in a major legal scandal. Without Frank Underwood, House of Cards quickly lost its footing, and despite Netflix’s best efforts—including shifting focus to Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood—the show’s final season couldn’t escape its inevitable downfall.

For me, the show endes with Frank getting in the oval ofice and tapping on the resolute desk. Banger ending, leaves to the imagination, loose ends are wrapped, perfection

It went downhill when Underwood became President. The chase was more interesting than the win

Robin Wright has stated that they moved forward with season 6 to avoid the crew members losing their jobs after the Spacey scandal. This deserves admiration.

those first 2 seasons was some of the best TV i've ever seen.
part of me wishes it would've just ended after that now-iconic scene where he wraps the desk with his knuckles.

Another issue is that Frank became president way too early in the series run. You know besides all that crazy crap behind the scenes.

It's simple. Like what happens to many other shows, it wore out its welcome and kept spinning its wheels without getting to the point. The title "House of Cards" implies that the house is fragile and will eventually fall and we'd witness Frank get his comeuppance. But that never happened.

Season 1 to 4 was gold.
Then it starting crashing down, but then Spacey scandal happened and it was the last nail in the coffin.

The sixth season never happened as far as I'm concerned.

They couldn't keep up with how crazy real politics were and still keep the show "realistic".

Remember that really weird video Spacey dropped called "Let me be Frank" after he got sacked?

Kevin Spacey WAS House of Cards. After they ejected him, the show became dogshit. Claire cannot replace Frank.

The biggest problem with House of Cards’ later seasons is that, despite all of the show’s cynicism about politicians and politics, it’s still incredibly earnest in its belief in the stability of America. There can be no consequences for the nation, only for the characters, no matter how chaotic or hazardous the political brinkmanship gets. If the show wanted to make that transition to the Underwoods being in charge right, it needed to show just how damaging and terrible the Underwoods’ tactics were, not just on a personal level, but on a national one. These character are villains, and the show refused to let them be villains about anything that mattered beyond the personal…

4:56 legally they were from separate states. Claire’s legal residence changed to Texas when she was eying a House seat while Franks legal residence was still South Carolina

The most disappointing part for me was that despite all his Machiavellian schemes and strategic brilliance, he still ended up as a mediocre president at best, spending most of his tenure just struggling to hold onto his chair rather than leaving a lasting impact.

Incredible show, where every co star played their role to perfection. First time I heard Mahershala Ali’s signature laugh, you could tell he was on his way.

Frank is from South Carolina and Claire is from Texas. This limitation doesn’t exist nor matter

It was meant to follow the Macbeth concept, a middle level politician rises to the top and then they try to get higher and do more corrupt and immoral things to the point where they get killed, it felt like the last part was cut off because of all the allegations.

I absolutely hate that novelist Yates character. Just so monotone and uncharismatic, the acting just feels off from him

The British original is worth digging out and I think it highlights the difficulty of translating this to a US political system. The final series of the trilogy sees Urquhart (Underwood) went toe-to-toe with the King. Once Underwood reached the Presidency that was it - game over. Urquhart always had something more to strive for.
