How do each of these battery's perform under load?

What cells are they running?

Thanks for explaining in detail. Now I will understand which batteries are for which tasks. This is the best review I have seen about batteries from this manufacturer.

Thank you finally someone whop knows what they are talking about along with the right instrumentation to verify claims.

Thank you for taking the time to make a Great video on Dewalt batteries!

Thanks for the testing. I love the 1.7 powerstacks but really hope dewalt releases a 3.4 that's just a taller 1.7. I'm not sure how true it is, but I think they said within 5-10 years they want all their batteries to be powerstacks, so I could easily see the 3.4 and 10.0 powerstacks coming into play at some point.

This is a very solid video. I would like to see about the 10ah XR and the new 8ah power pack under a voltage sack

Tack för väldigt utförlig test av olika batterier!

This is so usefull! Milwaukee confuses me with their battery range, and with Ryobi their old 3ah battery actually outperforms the new HP 4ah batteries. Cant wait to see that if you test them also. Awesome content! Thumbs up!

Those flexvolt packs are beasts. I think they are mainly aimed at their static line of tools and possibly garden tools where the weight isn't so critical. Excellent detail in the video again!

thanks for the info. I personally rebuild all my 21700 power tool batteries with samsung 21700 50s cells. the samsung 21700 50s are the best cells in my opinion. High capacity with a high discharge rate.

When using my DCD777, I found that the performance was almost identical with the 3.0 compact battery compared with the 5.0 XR battery.

Ah! Thank you for that info on the 5ah power stack. I thought there was something wrong with mine. I use my batteries for my kids power wheels and I couldn’t figure out why it would cut off power after 1 second. The 1.7 runs fine

That interesting. I have many dewalt battery's. I even have the 10 Ah 20V not shown. works super for me. getting more power to the tool is not a big deal for my use. run time is more important for me. what data I am looking for is the cycle life on power stack 5 Ah compared to XR 5 AH 20V . as a electrician the tools I use the most do not load the battery much. like LED lights and the small right angled drill. sometimes I drill a lot of small holes for romex cable. would like to see a test of new battery and cycle it. this will change from small load to high load.

The small footprint is exactly what I don't like about the small powerstack, drills don't stand up vertically very well compared to the xr 2ah

Brilliant comparo.
Many thanks for the pretty charts too, very helpful

The 5ah powerstack is interesting. Looks like 6 parallel mosfets to isolate the battery. I wonder if that's to give it a higher low-voltage cut-off or a lower max charge voltage to prolong cycle life? I would have thought they could just manipulate the T or ID pin to get the same effect. Maybe it's a current limiter. You could measure the max and min voltage of the 5ah PS and compare it to other batteries to see if it does have a different voltage range.

Measure the voltage on the ID and T pin when it's running - I bet it's fairly easy to trick the battery into thinking it's connected.
