Portraits for me always are gonna be a prime lens. For me are sharper! I shoot portraits with 85mm1.4 or 35mm1.4. But events I definitely use zoom 24-70 or 70-200. Great video as always

I will look at your videos again. Great if doing nonprofit work also. Thanks.

This question lives eternally in photography. For me, I keep a zoom on my cameras 80% of the time, and keep fast primes for specific shooting situations. Fast Primes are hard to beat for 'look' but I always like to crop in-camera with a zoom. So both have their place.

… the „one“ zoom lens for portrait photography? Get the 35-150 f2-2.8 from Tamron – if you could get one, because it’s not easy. 😏

Thanks for the insight. Very useful and competent reporting. I just ordered two different lenses both a prime and a zoom... waiting.

I only have two primes for my Sony a7S2 . Sigma dg dn mm 85 1.4 and Sony GM 35 1.4 cause of the low light capabilities.

Definitely prefer primes to my zoom lenses. Super sharp images on my a7iii.

Question: are Prime lenses more sharper than Zoom lenses?
