This was the video I needed to see today. I have fallen into a bad writing slump lately, and I think it is partially due to relying too much on other people's feedback, and also feeling the need to make every word perfect. This video was so reassuring and helpful, as are all of your writing hacks. Thank you for making this!!

Maggie Stiefvater wrote a post on Tumblr that was so helpful in this regard. She said that writers can be divided into writers and storytellers. Writers tend to thrive on the writing process itself, while storytellers thrive on audience reaction. Definitely helped me recognize that I love feedback. It's definitely a struggle to write without it, but knowing helps me combat it.

This really reflected my head space lately. I'm about to submit my creative writing PhD and my supervisor *gets me*: my work, my process, my psychology. Her guidance feedback has been invaluable from the day we met and I'm beyond grateful. However, knowing she's helped make my novel as good as it is leaves me wondering: how am I ever going to write another book without her? That worry has been clanging around my brain for weeks, and I just want to thank you for taking me by the metaphorical shoulders and reminding me that I absolutely can do it. You're a hero.

Your timing is uncanny. I'm part of a critique group and I'm writing a whole new draft and it's so hard! I am not 100% sure of myself right now. Thanks for making this video.

This is a very big problem for me for both my original work and fanfiction. I no longer post anything until the whole project is done and edited to the best of my abilities. I work really hard for so long with no feedback, and it makes me doubt myself more often than not. Thank you for the video!

This was me for so many years. My best friend and I are writing a series together, and there were lots of times I would freeze up while drafting or editing scenes on my end because I felt that my co-author might disapprove of how I handled the scene. This was especially true of scenes involving our couples. We each have a different favorite couple in the series, so we (I) tend to give our favorites a bit more screen/page time. She's a little quicker than I am at pointing out when I've focused on my favorite too long! However, she has also told me over and over to trust myself when I'm writing, and I think it's finally starting to sink in. We are now in the process of what we hope will be the next-to-last major revision of the draft of our first book in the series. It has taken us forever to get here, but the journey has been and continues to be awesome!

PS--This series actually used to be fanfic before we decided to make it original. I have a feeling I mentioned that in another comment. lol Anyway, our fanfic experience was a little different. We didn't post our stories immediately. We wrote long drafts that were more like novels, which is part of why we finally decided to convert it to original work. We'd spent so much time and energy on this project, we could no longer justify it being "just for fun." It needed to be something we could eventually publish in book form. However, we also spent so much time working on it together that the habit carried over when we converted it. I'm sure that led to me freezing up so much. But my bestie's encouragement is leading me to freeze up less and less. Thanks for reinforcing that encouragement. :)

Sometimes you need to be your own (and best) cheerleader! Independence, and as you said- trust in yourself is so important to move forward!

Beyond just your great writing advice, thank you for wearing such beautiful, colorful eyeshadow. For a long time, I have stuck to browns, etc. which are very flattering, because I thought that pink just wasn't a viable color. You have shown me otherwise.

Some fanfic writers don't post anything until the entire story is done. I'm sure they are kind of rare, though. I myself am eager to post a chapter as soon as its written and edited lol.
