What do you think of this whole situation, and have you ever had a negative experience with other hunters in Online Quests?

For an online multiplayer game community with the large fan base that it has, Monster hunter is in the top 5 least toxic. The petty disagreements and elitism is NOTHING compared to the levels in other games, monster hunters recent "controversies" are just a symptom of the community being so large now

I play mostly with random folks online and have only rarely encountered openly hostile people. Compared to other games, most people playing MH tend to be far more wholesome and kind than the average gamer.

I think this is just an unfortunate side effect of Monster Hunter massively gaining popularity in the recent years. Before, the community felt a lot more welcoming and wholesome when it was small and niche (in the US), because they just wanted other people to give their favorite game a chance and join in on the fun. But now that the community is much larger you start seeing a lot more elitists and sweaties. The MonHun community is probably still one of the better ones out there, but I do miss the old family vibe community

2:12 "it doesn't affect the game in any way"
Oh, but it does. When Capcom sees all the money these types of microtransactions make, they're going to add more and more and more.

I've never once seen toxic behaviour in Monster Hunter World. Not one time. When I get carted I feel so bad like I am wasting peoples time, and I am paranoid they will get mad at me for wasting their time. I have even lost real friends for them yelling at me for wasting their time when I make a mistake. So I am always terrified of people being mad at me for it, but no one, has shown me any attitude or anger for doing so, they show me support and always say "You are learning! Just focus on getting better and it is never a waste of time! Thats what makes this game fun, you don't just win every fight, lets go again!"

Monster hunter has been a blessing for me and I can't thank the community enough. Rise is my first game into the franchise and my dormate YES my dormates introduced me to Rise and after that I couldn't stop playing and throughout my time I meet some amazing people I'm glad to call friends again thank you MH community with open arms and respect

First started playing when MHW and MHWI came out. Was getting walled and the online community really helped. They were cool with me carting multiple times and even squading up with me to get me through difficult hunts.

While there were some elitist and speed runners, they were very rare compared to the more helpful players. Heck I still play world/iceborne just to help newer players on hunts as a way to show the love that was shown to me.

Yes. Monster Hunter is a great franchise. But with how the game industry is like, it's not hard to imagine people not wanting it even CLOSE to the other examples

This video is aging like fine wine since mh wilds came out

I think the size of the community caused the most toxicity, because now there are more sweaty tryhards or meta-slaves calling you inferior, because you wear "the wrong armourset"

I've noticed a lot more of the toxicity in the community is much larger ever since sunbreak came out compared to the other games. It's so sad because people will be called useless for using sets that tank and etc.

I've never had a bad experience. So far all the randoms I pair with on hunts have all been stand-up guys. And gals. And very probably guys playing as gals.

IMO if someone with cool DLC Layered Arnor showed up, I tend to pull out my in-game camera and try to take a picture of them.

My house is filled with pictures of random hunters from memorable hunts 🤣

This wasn't specifically in game, but I was on tiktok and a guy on the comments was asking for just general help on MH cause they were a new player. Every comment that was replying to them was laughing at them, telling them that they need to learn on their own and "It's monster hunter, you need to struggle first"

Shit made me sick and I tried my best to help the guy (can't do much when you don't play on the same console and tiktok has that hella short character limit for comments) and told them to ignore the others in the comments cause they don't represent the rest of the community

2 other incidents from my end, but when I first started World, I joined the mh reddit discord asking for advice on Gunlance for a new player. Cue them trying to tell me I should be playing other weapons cause Gunlance is trash while also spamming me with speedrunning builds that, me being a completely new player at the time), would not have understood at all

And also when Rise first released on Switch I kept getting booted from lobbies for playing Gunlance

i've always found the monster hunter community to be very intimidating and judging at times, but equally as much i've found it to be very open armed and full of comradery

i've been playing since 4U all the way back in 2015-2016 and that vibe has changed very little throughout my time in this franchise

The MH community has always had some toxic elitists in it. I remember during the 4U days that players that wore the Star Knight gear was labelled as scrubs hence the name "Star Knight Scrub" and were constantly getting kicked from rooms because the armor was so good.

I mean, I have to be honest. If this is the worst thing going on in the community…then the community is not toxic at all.

I’ve been a part of many different gaming communities, and I’ve seen some truly garbage things. There may be a handful of “bad apples” but the community isn’t toxic.

Only time i've experienced toxicity was during the safi siege in iceborne i joined a dude who had a very similar looking avatar we were emoting at each other ...And then i did the cutesy poses and he messaged get out and kicked me XD.
generally playing online other players have been very kind and fun to play with. Even on off days when I've joined and messed up their hunts.

I love Monster Hunter and it's community sooo much. I remember playing World/Iceborne for the first time, just as I got to reach High Rank, a couple of people from the Facebook Group I was in hopped in my server and helped me with a lot of the hunts. A couple hours later they asked "Are we getting annoying?" because they noticed how it's always them one-shotting the monster and finishing the quest before 10 mins, I didn't really get to enjoy the hunts, so I asked if they could adjust to me, and they happily did, they all used hunting horns to buff me up while I was there getting my ass beaten, they were typing in chat when and what moves to dodge, or which zones to go to. It's reaaally fun and refreshing, every time I go back to the gathering hub, there'd be people waving and gathering around me since I had the lowest armor of the server, I have yet to experience this in Rise/Sunbreak, but I am sooo looking forward to it. These so called "controversies" are nothing but just adjustments that Capcom's taking since MH has been getting bigger and bigger, and with competition coming (Wild Hearts by EA and Koei), whether or not it's gonna be successful, they will definitely bring something new, and Capcom needs to do something. I honestly don't think this is a bad thing per se, you can just NOT buy the layered armour/weapons, it's your money and you it's not mandatory to buy these things. Buying the games is already more than enough to support the devs, it's fckin Capcom for crying out loud. But yes, I do agree that it beats the purpose of grinding for the layered armour and weapons, which to me makes it feel like a gacha game because you get better things by paying more. Other than that, I am happy with whatever is up there rn, I would rather not buy it, but if I happened to have those completionist moments, then maybe I will. But yeah, this is mostly my opinion on that, feel free to correct me.
