That reminds me. It’s a good time with the cold weather to do some needed maintenance on the ‘da bits’😉

Excellent video! Thanks ! I have several Auger Bits very similar to the one in your video! I just tried using a 13\16ths Auger Bit from Irwin Tools! It hit a nail or two and drilled a lot of hardwood ! Pretty dull ! After watching your video, am I to understand there is only one cutting edge on that Auger Bit! The flat very short edge you filed! The first edge you filed, the long edge, does it act similar to a raker tooth on a chain saw? I really would like to spend a couple hours in your shop getting some hands on! Obvious You Have Been There And Done That!

Good vid, the first part you sharpened is the scribe, it scribes the timber so that when the second flat edge you sharpened that follows the scribe starts removing material it doesn't cause rough breakouts on perimeter of the hole :)

Raiders and Red Sox?
I'm an old Oakland Raiders fan and now a Las Vegas Raiders fan. How'd you become a Raiders fan cheering for Boston's Red Sox?

Major bad advice. That is not a proper auger bit sharpening file.
The correct files have a "safe sides". IOW, now serrations on the edge on end, and no serrations on the flats on the other end.
