Has WoodOwl ever made bits without the PTFE coating?

In the process of cleaning out some storage, I just found a smooth tri-cut 1-¼" bit that was unused, but the tube was aged (like when the plastic turns a bit tanic.) However, it doesnt have the black coating???

Everything about it says its a WoodOwly when I compared it to all my others smooth tri-cut bits.

To my knowledge I had never purchased a WoodOwl in US until early 2014, but I had a few Star-M bits from Japan for specialty uses.

I spoke wirh a few in the US and theyve never seen one like this.

I did go to Japan in 2010 to meet with some Fishing Component suppliers, so I mightve bought it or been gifted it, but I dont recall? Hiwever, I thought the WoodOwl were their internstional brand.

Either way, its like finding money in an old jacket pocket lol.

So, was there a time when the WoodOwl brand didnt use the black ptfe coating?
