Gives a qualitative overview of Pauling's 5 rules, but without using Pauling's specific wording. Take a look at Pauling's original wording, reproduced in most Mineralogy texts, but also in Pauling (1929; "The Principles Determining the Structure of Ionic Crystals") and his book, "Nature of the Chemical Bond" (1948, 2nd ed.) both of which can be downloaded as pdf files for free (by Keith Putirka)
