The weather is getting warmer! Yes, even here in the UK we're getting warmer weather by the day.
But do you know how to help your cat stay cool as the weather gets warmer?

Thank you for addressing this, it’s really important to keep eyes on. Aconite is the homeopathic remedy for heat, even heatstroke, advised by my certified homeopath. Saved my cat’s life once (on the way to the vet).
Especially some older cats Love the heat in their old bones. Then they might sleep in the heat past being dehydrated, even until they are confused, then disoriented, then in heatstroke, and still asleep. So we need to be eyes on, and help them manage the steps.
Also wet microfiber cloths can do a better job than regular cloths. They can be wet and cool without soaking a fussing cat. It is more like the mom-cat’s grooming. Some cats Love having their face, ears, and chin wet-groomed, others don’t, just try new places one at a time, so they can acclimate to your asking what they like, avoiding the dreaded ‘two no’s in a row’ (which can put them off the whole thing of what we’re trying to introduce).

I keep my cats water cool and I use a slightly wet towel to go over her long fur

I use an ice cube also. I rub it on her when it's really hot.

If it is very hot, we hang up wet sheets or towels and have a small fan which blows towards them, evaporating the water and cooling the surrounding air slightly. It is not a lot, but it makes a difference, and the cats will often hang out in that area.

Yes it's a bit sad in the warm weather my cats really struggle ...they pant and sleep a lot ...but I keep windows open ...and I try to keep the back door open as long as possible ...however they come alive at sunset and go crazy for a while ...oh and it's 2021 Claire

For my other outdoor cats I put I've cubes in their water a couple times a day and keep it In the shade.

i used to put dry towel in to the freezer, and then put it over my cat. She enjoyed that.

Hello, believe it or not, I use an ice cube. I put in my hand and rub along his sides. It definitely works!

I have always put some ice in my cats water and keeping it cold but I make sure to take them out as they shrink so my cats dont swallow it

I really wish I knew this during the time we lost air conditioning in my house. My cats were so uncomfortable it was hard to watch. They're ok now thank god, but it felt so terrible to see them in that environment

I'm going to be freezing an ice cube mat, in other words a tray of frozen water for them to lay next to and stay a bit cooler.

I have my fans on until my ac gets installed I also put an ice cube in a dish both my cats love licking it.

Ionno about sunscreen haha but my cat takes steroids in the summer down here in Florida, she gets these bumps from allergies, steroids get rid of them but then she’s an elderly cat taking steroids so ionno
