Stop Leaks Instantly - Testing Flex Tape And Nashua Strech & Seal!

Today we put a couple different products to the test! First we try the as seen on TV flex tape to see if it can actually stop a leak instantly. Next we try out the Nashua Stretch & Seal to see if it can stop a leak. We have a third wild card in the contest, but you will have to watch till the end!

I think he handled the flextape with the intent of sabotaging the product's effectiveness. The way he wrapped the flex tape was so awkward with all the gaps. You could see right away he was going to have problems with it. Flex tape was poorly demonstrated

Flex tape works. I don’t think your test of it was setup correctly.

For starters, you should cut the tape at an angle at both ends before wrapping the pipe. That way it you can get the tape to make continuous contact while tightly wrapping it around the pipe. Second, you should use shorter lengths so as not to struggle with taking the tape off the roll, while at the same time fighting it from sticking to itself. Last, the tape should be wrapped at least 1 inch on both ends away from the leak. This will ensure a stronger seal.

Nashua was super stretched and carefully applied. Flex tape was 5X as wide and was applied in a loose, sloppy manner. Cut the flex tape to the same width as Nashua, apply it in the exact same way, I bet the Flex tape will kick Nashua off the cliff. And the cutoff option isn't a relevant comparison.

Thanks, brother! I'm watchin this video bc you were the 3rd or 4th result on my "flex tape pressured line" search. I'm an EPA certified HVAC tech (who now sells tools for a living), and i appreciate the sharkbite reminder. My RV blew a pinhole leak on the hot side of my water heater, and I'm on the way to the hardware store now. Awesome tip on the Nashua tape, and I didnt even know sharkbite made those end caps even though theres 50+pcs of SharkBite in my shop. 😅 Hopefully Tractor Supply has em! 🙏

I see youre a contractor and prolly gives few flucks about the monetary success of these videos, but if i could suggest maybe getting microphones, and dropping the background music by 30% or so, i think it'll make the viewing experience more enjoyable and informative (if you havent done that stuff already 🤜🤛). No other suggestions aside from that..well, that and dont half-ass the Flex Tape like the other viewer noted. 😅😅 my 30 year old RV is 50% flex tape & flex seal, and if you get--and correctly apply--the right type for the job, it works. But i still dunno if Flex Tape actually works or not. I put 6" on this ½" fake flexy PEX crap, but no way I'm gonna put pressure on it without adding 10 worm gear clamps and some rubber. 😂 But if they've got that fancy SharkBite cap, thats what we're using!

Theres also something called "kibosh" (kye-BOSH) I just heard about on another video that might be worth checking out.

Thanks again! Liked and subscribed! 🤝

The stretch & seal worked because you applied it properly. The Flex Seal did not work because you applied it incorrectly both times.

I just picked up some Nashua Tape for the small leak in my kitchen. I only need a temporary fix. I tried the Flex Seal Tape and it SUCKED!! It blew up like a balloon and popped as soon as I turned the water line back on. I also just ordered a ROTHENBERGER Repair Clamp

What a great video! Your setup was perfect for illustrative purposes. Thanks for taking one for the team by getting soaked with all of that water. Very educational, indeed. I am definitely going to buy a roll of that stretch and seal tape and a couple of shark bites to keep around for emergencies.

T-Rex had same exact problem as Flex Seal, at 32psi.
Except it was Dallas TX on 2/16/21 at 19°F!!, and the same fountain was happening. Our city uses locking meters, could not turn off water.

If you used it correctly, maybe the flex tape also had a chance to stop that leak. the backing already compromised the effectivity.

Great video, thanks! Excellent set up for demo. I just tried the Nashua stretch and seal today to stop leaks in our drip hose water system. I'm hoping it will work for a while until we can redo the whole setup.

Wasn't a fair test. The flex tape had more water pressure to deal with.

Your final solution would have stopped a flood but would not have kept the water running which the Nashua tape did. Nice video, you're a natural showman. I have tried the spray on flex seal and I *wasn't* impressed.

I use the wraps but prefer the clamps and it’s always easy to wrap and clamp a leak on a straight bit of pipe. It’s really hard to wrap a fitting. If I was going to cut and go for push fit I would be a valve not a stop end.

Just tried the clear flex tape.. Terrible. I got the big plastic layer off with no problem. I expected the backside to be cloth like, but it was also like a thinner plastic layer. It wasn't removable. So imagine the quality- stickiest thick adhesive on one side, thin plastic like backing. It didn't self-bond well and it leaked badly. Maybe it's unique to the clear kind.

I started with a wrapping on both sides of leak first on fairly dry copper- still didn't bond well enough after using the full roll, squeezing it hard onto the pipe.
