Key to getting inside the note is turning up the gain. Thanks, Carlos!

This is pretty valuable I remember when I was playing solos in a concert I stumbled into this technique without even knowing it and the audience started getting interested. But when I was playing ‘outside the note’ just to get by playing something that fit nobody even paid attention.... This video definitely made me more aware

Is that REALLY left handed or is that a trick??

So being inside a note is picking harder/turning up the volume knob and using techniques like vibrato, bends and slides and adding notes. Could have just said that along with his personal philosophy. Love ya Carlos but it doesn't need to be so mystical/arcane, sounds like gatekeeping. Its 2020 and if I wanted to interpret riddles to develop myself I'd read the bible. There is a beautiful emotional connection to music and playing guitar (Carlos does allude to this fact, gotta give the man credit) but it's not as pseudo-spiritual as this video portrays it. The connection to the human spirit lies in the emotional content of that appeal to our primal tendencies, there is no evolutionary function to music and even mr. Evolution himself Charles Darwin says this. It's all about conveying.

Edit: Furthermore I can't take a guy serious who cheated on his wife for 34 years yet shoves divinity/"pure integrity" nonsense down my gullet and is obsessed with sensuality/sex in relation to being "good" (subjective) at guitar. He even has stated that he only plays guitar for women which is what juvenile me embarassingly started playing for at age 12.. Not to mention dude and his ex wife fired a guy for being "spiritually out of whack". I'm 29 now. Used really be into what I thought was spirituality and used to speak in the way Carlos does but then stopped because I realized I sound pretentious and was pretentious. It wasn't until I got into philosophy, using various psychedelics and extensive use of marijuana (not really into drugs anymore, drugs are fun but they get boring and can mess up your body and chemistry not to mention it could unlock mental health issues for certain people), meditation, sociology, science, various religions/schools of thought, psychology, mysteries of the mind/external world/universe, world history, and culture among other things that I started thinking for myself and then finally admitting that I still don't know a lot of things about life and the nature of reality, despite what I've experienced or what kind of guitar player I am. There's a reason music "works" and is pleasing to listen to but it's not as shallow and surprisingly deep as people like Carlos make it out to be. Definitely use your intuition though or "soul". I invite anybody reading this to question my criticisms/opinions but also the rhetoric displayed in this video.

Of course this is useful if you have already mastered reading and thousands of hours of repetitive practice otherwise it's too ethereal.
