ID7 looks interesting, VW is gaining experience in the EV game

as a company, we are switchting away from Teslas to VWs (mainly ID7s) due to various reasons:

-our employees are way more happy with them due to all the features, space, increased comfort etc
-the difference in efficiency in real world use (especially in winter) is actually smaller than expected
-we (hopefully) get less discussions with the leasing company about production defects the leasing company tries to blame us for when returning the car.
-last but not least, they are way cheaper to lease. not because VWs are incredibly cheap, just because Teslas are ridiculously expensive. so much for the price difference from a company perspective (that's different of course if you buy that car as a private person)

i am not dogmatic about different EV brands and VWs are by no means perfect, but that switch was rather easy.... the overall package is just good. not the best in any way, but no real weaknesses either. they just work great in daily use with not too many problems and acceptable TCO.

When I remember the worst charging speed of my ID3 1st Edition VW learned a lot in the last 4 years. A really good car and it’s so boring to read some comments with always the same message that Tesla can do it better blablabla…. people should recognize that the EV World can in the meantime offer other cars than Teslas which are competitive and will bring more people to EV mobility.

Really looking forward to you testing the ID.7 Pro S. Faster charging, ~10% more capacity. Should be some 10 minutes faster at least.

I absolutely love my ID.7 Tourer Pro! Best car I ever had. If you're considering it, just go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Great test, Bjørn! I own an ID7 and will keep the car for as long as possible. Have done 14000 km now.

I did a round trip from Lillestrøm to Karlskoga a few weeks ago, which is about 560 km. Didn’t go slow at all; set the cc at 130 in the 110 and 120 zones. Roughly 20+ over everywhere. Charged for 15 mins in Karlstad while eating a burger, that was it. The average consumption was 19, 4 if I remember correctly. Arrived home with plenty of juice in the battery. All in all, it is like you say: very efficient car, lot of equipment for the money. And now you will get even more bang for the buck with the new gtx.

I really love our ID.7, it was shifted from a Passat GTE. We usually drive around 400km through Denmark and it does it perfectly.
A great supplement to our ID.3 which works as a daily commuter car.

Especially when both cars are charged by solar power from the roof.

Thank you for a great review.

This is really a very decent car with plenty of room. VW came a long way here, but they are fixing all tje things: Software, charging, power...Packaging and comfort have always been good.

With the new bigger battery this one is an awesome car for a fair price - given the value und made in Europe under fair circumstances. I just don't like the looks so much and will go for the A6 instead

my feeling is, German car industry is on their way back to the top. Next generation of BMW and Merc will blow your mind - ID7 is just a first glance.

Bjorn so awesome that you did these 1000km challenges, thank you so much! I'm looking into buying an EV and this information is so extremely helpful! I recently did a 3000km trip with fossil car (max 900km/day, so on the way there and on the way home we had some stop somewhere) EVs are perfect for doing this, since every 200kms we already stopped with our petrol dino burner! I think for me it will be either ID.3 or Model 3, I like that the ID.3 is much more spacious (for passengers) and is a hatchback, I could transport more in the back!

Another great test.
Curious to see you test the new ID3 GTX Performance. Cheers

Thank you for the test I asume with the 86kw battery it will beat the model 3 as it will charge 200kw at peak and the bigger battery will give it probably 50km more range.😊

best ID, best deal for an ID - with no major weaknesses, but also no outstanding strengths - typical Volkswagen.
But the intended use also has to be right and it's still too expensive for a family car, but maybe VW has very cheap leasing offers here to boost poor sales, there are at least many immediately available vehicles in stock?!

Bjørn is on the road again, what a trooper, 1.000 km run, thank you Bjørn.
Would be intersting to know whats behind the cooling issue with opening the door.Maybe it's a technical reason we didn't thing about. Hello VW do you hav an answer ?
