Forget gaming headphones get these instead - Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X LE review

Prawn here with my review of the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro X limited Edition headphones. These are studio quality headphones and an update to the DT 770 Pro headphones that includes treble tuned dynamic STELLAR.45 drivers capable of a broad frequency response of 5–40,000 Hz.

More importantly these headphones are superbly comfortable and deliver studio quality sound with a solid build quality and some really nice features. These are far superior to the average gaming headphones and a brilliant alternative if you want great audio.

Two things to note about these cans: 1. The mini-XLR connector extends quite a way down and can get in the way of rotating your neck :> 2. the clamping force is a bit on the tight side, this should ease off in time with use but it's still quite high. Other than that, it's a great upgrade over the 770 PROs. The next-gen mmx300 should give you a version with a built in mic boom.

I have these, great headphones for those times i need sound isolation. However, unless its necessary to use closed backs, open backs are superior for music and games. The AKG K712 is a great gaming headset, the best I have, the sound stage is very wide, great for games (not my fav for music). On a budget the Phillips 9500 and 9600 work well. Have the bucks, get the Focal Elex, just wow. Used can be found under $400. The AKG’s I mentioned are stupid expensive new retail, but on Ebay, can be found under $120….

I really like your reviews on pc parts in general, but for headphones you should really elaborate more on audio quality, sound stage and more importantly for gaming, imaging accuracy. Looking forward to seeing more headphone - related reviews.

I have the regular DT 770 Pros. Been using them for gaming for around 3-4 years now and theyre so solid. Great for watching movies and music listening too. They beat my previous gaming headphones by a whole lot. I used to use a razer headset and i can confidently say i never wanna go back to gaming headphones 😅 They were all so uncomfortable and would make my head hurt from the size and weight + prolonged hours of gaming. The DT 770 pros are really light and comfy in comparison. My only complaint is that if you live in a humid and tropical area like me, definitely buy replacement mesh ears for them and cover the leather headband with a cloth.

If I didn't already own a detachable cable modded DT770(250ohm) I would of definitely went for these, to tide me over until I splurge and get the ultimate closed back head phones. Aka > The Dan Clark E3.

I've tried the DT900 Pro X, and yet, they barely sounded that much more open than my DT770's. Worst of all, the clarity was a step down. They sounded a bit warmer than the DT770's which was nice, but unfortunately, it was almost like there was a muffled-like veil masking the vocals and sound. They Clarity just wasn't there.

I had these but returned them because the soundstage was abominably small. Love their reparability and comfort. Best headphones I've owned, soundstage aside. Bought some K702's and if those don't work out I'm gonna try out the Tygr 300r.

Unfortunately they dont ship replacement parts to the UK. I have an old pair of DT1770 pro that need refurbishing and im pretty much on my own. They used to sell the replacement parts, but I think that stopped after brexit.

These are a interesting set of cans. They tune very ummm sensitively.
Waiting for my replacements as right drives is blown. Still looking for the wireless goxlr zero mic monitoring latency solution tho.
