If you're wondering how to be articulate so that words can flow out of your mouth with ease, then you really need to think about how we learn speech to begin with. It all comes down to copying the combinations that we observe. If you want to learn how to articulate your thoughts better, then you need to practice these combos to the point where you can whip them out without even thinking about them. That's the key to articulation.

One of the best ways to become more articulate is by reading books. Reading books expands vocabulary. Using a variety of words makes conversations more flexible and dynamic. A strong vocabulary provides speakers with the ability to create compelling and thoughtful sentences.

So basically, it's learning through observation.

I have been working on being more articulate for awhile now, and I definitely think it's a learned skill. Like all other skills in life, as long as you keep working on it you will get better in time. Listening to podcasts and reading books have 100% improved my vocabulary and the way I formulate sentences.

"Copy is only a problem when you copy from one person. When you copy from dozens of people and create a unique combination, that's called innovation."

Same with me doing my assignment :p

Now some people are looking for a way to treat anxiety but i find that this video is the only thing you need. Anxiety causes you to not speak or express yourself and wonder if you need therapist or whatever you may need to cure your anxiety, but learning how to be articulate teaches you on how to speak while being the medicine on how to cure your anxiety.

The “copy from various people” mindset reminds me to the book “Steal Like an Artist” from Austin Kleon. (Btw, great book)

Wow that makes so much sense. I started to become more articulate when I began researching different topics, and I found a few ppl who I truly agree with and respect. After binge watchytheir content, I find myself using their analogies and examples all the time in my arguments.

I think, the best combination is by getting a broader vocabulary, with reading & listening to speaker. If your vocabulary is getting better you should just get out there and communicate with other people and reflect on it afterwards!

That's a brilliant idea. Modeling not just one person but many different people to make it your own speech!

I think this subject deserves a more in-depth look. To me articulate is sort of a container word which sums the result of several skills working in concert. You touched on this when you mentioned combos but I don't think it's just words combos. It can be a sequence of ideas or of skills themselves. It starts with the words, which if you think about it are describing little slices of reality, adding or taking away nuance from the picture you're painting with your words. Most of my life I've wielded words like a shotgun, spewing several of them at someone and hoping something sticks, always with the unpleasant feeling that I wasn't saying what I wanted to say and not only I wasn't making my message any clearer, I was actually obscuring it while making seem like a more clear but different thing. Now I'm trying to use them like a scalpel, specialized tools meant to perform a particular action. Using them too much a problem just as a big as my previous one of not using them at all. Conversation now is a picture and a song; your tone, pacing and silence modifying the words to mean something different than what the words say. All of that forced through a sieve of brevity. Can you deliver exactly the same message with less words? Sometimes it feels like I've just learned the basics of a foreign language that people were speaking around me all along.
