How to speak more concisely

How often do you pause to think about your answer when you're asked a question?

Most of us enter into a reactive state and feel we need to respond immediately.

However, by pausing it allows you to refine your thinking and therefore give a much clearer and more concise answer.

My grandfather paused before he spoke. As a child I got frustrated, but as an adult I see the value!

This is a VERY important thing to remember in interviews. When we’re asking deep questions about your influences, your motivations, and your goals, we want real answers. It’s ok, and even expected for you to take a moment to formulate your response.

It’s tough cuz people loooove to interrupt. I’m usually just trying to make sure I’m heard before the conversation moves on

Reading is essential to speaking well. I truly believe that the more you read intellectual books, the more the neural pathways in your mind are straightened out from the jumbled mess they once were, and the more you are able to speak and communicate in clear intelligent ways.

This sounds perfect on the paper. In reality people interrupt your thinking process by answering "on your behalf" or they say: if you are trying to speak you are on mute 😂.

My mantre lately has been to think simply. I have seen a huge difference in how people interact with me and my social anxiety has been reduced dramatically

Thank u for ur brilliant advice Vinh bhaiya.
I tried it. I paused to think. And when I answered, he said Happy New Year 2030

This os so true.
I have a friend who does exactly this and he's very accurate and concise about what he says. He answers exactly what you asked. Not any other thing. Its beautiful. I'll reform myself on this.

I love this advice. I am going to try and catch myself when I am hurrying to give out an answer.

My daughter looks at me sometimes like wahhh. So I ask her what is it about my delivery that she doesn’t understand. It’s my speed she says I talk too fast 😅. 6 year olds man. Clear and concise.

As relatively new content creators, we have to constantly remind ourselves of this as well! Creating live content, constantly feel like we need to always be talking and instantly be talking. But that few seconds to a minute of thought goes such a long way and makes for much clearer and concise conversation with the audience, despite it being live/non-scripted

This was a key thing I learned during my doctoral program when giving talks. Pause briefly, think, then deliver a logical, coherent, concise response to questions.
