The DT 990, being an open-back headphone, offers a much wider stereo image, which many engineers actually prefer for mixing. Regarding the distortion issue I’ve personally never experienced it, so it might be due to faulty drivers or another issue. As for the overly bright top end, I used to dislike it too, but that was mostly because I listened at very high volumes. Over time, once I started referencing professionally mixed tracks, I understood how to get better translation from them. If you're using the 250-ohm version directly through a phone or a weak interface, they will naturally sound under powered — that’s not a flaw, just a case of improper usage.

Plus they are made in Germany not china.

I have 2 dt990 250ohm. Purchased @ 2020 & 2024.
Same models. But different sound balance & clarity. (& Different Logos of Bayerdynamic) Older one is way better.

There's no problem in my headfone that is clear nd detailing sound..thnku

there are lot of peaks and dips in 990 pro treble. mids are recessed. not good for mixing. although the sound very good for consuming content. thats it.

mere experience mein jab bhi m20x mein koi mix done karta hun to always jab mix kisi speaker mein sunta hun to mix patla sound karta hai jisme highs boosted hoti hain.... i dont know ki yeh mere sath hi hai case yaa baakiyon ke sath bhi

Hi Arijit dada, Please make a video about Headphone sound balancing in vocal time. Actually whenever I have record a vocal with Dynamic or condensor mic, the metronome sound or track sound also come with vocal layer via ny m40x headphone. The sound is leaking over the closed back headphone. I have using AT M40x Headphone. How can I adjust all sound to get clear vocal without all tracks and metronome.
