Amex Gold worth $250?!

If you're eating out or buying groceries often (so, all the time), then checking out the Amex Gold might be worth it!

This is my favorite card to use in the US because I'm not really doing much besides eating, but the perks are just another plus!

Yeah...your "$100 hotel credit" via The Hotel collection is misleading. IF, you spend 2 nights using the THC portal, then you get the $100. But that AMEX's travel portal is marked up most of the time offsetting the $100 credit anyhow.

the amex offers are amazing, and i’ve already saved over 200 dollars on things i was going to buy anyways. the offers bundled with the partnership amex has with rakuten where you earn mr points (instead of cashback) makes for an easy way to make back the annual fee with no extra effort 🙃

Just canceled my Gold Card. Fun fact: linking your Amex to Uber increases prices and fees on the app overall and blocks promotional discounts. Yea, that's right. Your $120 credits are basically a $120 bill ON TOP of that $250 fee. And then there's the fact that AMEX points are garbage compared to other cards. AMEX is a scam.

i will only use it for the restaurants points tbh but only eat out like 1-3 times a month and just use my Amex blue cash preferred for my groceries since i get 6x back

It’s not worth it in Australia. They got rid of Centurion lounge access without telling me. The only benefit left is the Unlimited because they got rid of every other benefit. So they are forcing you to upgrade to a Platinum card which is $1245 a year. But the Gold card is only $80 and it used to include all the benefit’s in the US for $80.

My dad got the gold since the 80s, AMEX exempted his annual fee and gave him the benefits of a black card in his gold card.

My parents have used gold and platinum cards for years. I was an authorized user since college to buy books and stuff. Now I have my own and I put everything on it except mortgage and car note

This is the best card you can get below the black. I personally think the platinum is useless unless you’re constantly staying in hotels.

The problem is I shop at Walmart super centers and it doesn't classify with a supermarket so I use the Blue Business Plus only. A Neighborhood one does qualify so I can use my BBP or EveryDay card. But I have none where I live as far as a Neighborhood Walmart. I kept my Green for restaurants at 3x per dollar spent and its a travel so I used it on a recent cruise I went to. For Walmart, I use the Blue Business Plus ONLY which is 2x for the first $50, 000 in a calendar year then 1x after that, at no annual fee. For supermarkets, I use the EveryDay no annual fee version or I can use the Blue Business Plus at an actual supermarket.

Not worth it for me in rural Montana, USA. No Uber here and such limited dining out choices and poor quality so it’s better to cook at home or use hello fresh or others but unfortunately that doesn’t count as grocery spending.

I don’t understand why you would get this over the savor one with no annual fee unless you had other Amex cards you wanted the points for.

Savor one + venture x -> Amex gold + Amex platinum as well unless you are traveling like monthly.
