Learning to skate rails is painful #shorts

Показать описание
✿This is what learning looks like✿
It can be so easy to see other rollerskaters land their tricks, whether that be through social media or in person, and think that landing tricks comes easily. Maybe for some, but for most, it looks a lot like this… lots of falls, some laughs, some frustrations, and some conquering!
I just want to normalize the fact that it’s normal to fall A LOT when learning new things or even practicing what you already know! Social media is curated, so sometimes we can believe others don’t fall much or can learn new things in a blink of an eye. But for the majority of us, this is our learning process, and that’s okay!
I hope you grow to LOVE your learning, and I hope it makes you feel strong! Skating is badass, and no matter what your skate journey looks like, you’re still doing more than 99% of the population by lacing up your wheelie boots and getting out there!
Keep it up, my fellow friends!

✿MY STORY✿
Hey There,
I’m Maddy H-B, your friendly Fairy Quad Mother and Professional Mess-Maker! I’ve been a creative explosion my entire life, processing my experiences through paint, paper, glitter, and whatever else I could get my lil’ grubby hands on! That passion for creation has only grown stronger as I’ve grown into adulthood, and I pushed it aside for years in exchange for a life of academia. Attending 4 colleges in 6 years and working full time managing a restaurant, my health had plummeted! Almost unfunctional, I was plagued by pseudo seizures and debilitating anxiety, finally leading me to ditch my previous life plan, drop out of school (not promoting this to anyone, it’s just my experience), quit my job, and start an art business! Pursuing a life as a freelance illustrator and shop owner has been terrifying and beautiful all wrapped into one emotional burrito, especially considering I’d never been trained in art or business. But I have to say, making a career out of creating brings me more joy than I can express! However, I have another passion that rivals that of art (how scandalous, I know), and that is flying through the world on 8 wheels.
I’ve been learning how to rollerskate for about a year and half, and it’s safe to say skating has completely taken over my life! Strapping eight wheels to my feet and throwing myself at concrete has been the best adventure I’ve ever been on, leading me to build a deeper connection with my body, my mind, the community, and the world around me. It’s given me an escape, a mode of expression, a place to experience freedom in its truest form! Whether I’m at the skatepark, the roller rink, or in the streets, life always feels a little sweeter when I’m rollin’. This unconventional life feels scary sometimes, but I guess I’m just gonna do it scared! Hope you’ll come along ❤️
