In this video, our three focus points are: The Four Main Chord Types (from the triad, we get: major 7, dominant 7, minor, minor 7 - plus I give a few more which are very easy to understand), Progressions (I provide a chord progression and explain its structure, the 1, 4, 5 progression), and finally we focus on Freedom of Expression (allowing you to open up and use what you have learnt in previous videos and this one and actually start Playing the piano! I demonstrate a great deal in this video so you will enjoy it very much. A second viewing may be required.

The visualization technique is amazing. It speeds up the learning process a lot faster, yes much faster. Dan's approach is more of a holistic way of playing the piano. So beautiful. Thanks Dan.

Very exciting! What a great catch phrase. As a drummer of more years experience than I care to note I have found your lessons invaluable for the understanding of music theory which is certainly easier to grasp on a keyboard instrument than on the guitar. I'm just starting out but I have access to a real piano and it's looking lonely. Your lessons are inspirational, so thanks for sharing your knowledge and music Dan.

Hello Dan, I happily, accidentally discovered your video on YouTube. I really appreciate your way of explaining ideas and concepts and then reviewing them! I look forward to now going back and viewing your earlier lessons. YOU sure make playing look effortless and easy ; ) "Only see the notes that you need"... .is far more challenging when time is quickly passing by.... Thank you for all your time and energy you invest in creating your posted videos!! JoY

Dan, this has been an answer to prayer...seriously, I have taken in so much info over the years and not known how to put it together. I am a singer first, but have always had it on my heart to learn piano but have let fear paralyze me. Fear of failure, and really fear that I am not capable. And you are giving all of this incredibly valuable info for free! May God Bless you and yours 10 fold...so very deserving. It being 2019, I have such a great feeling about this year. And have freely decided to give it a true go at accomplishing what my heart wants, my inner pianist has yet to be brought to light. Your approach, speaks to me...the fear is diminished because of the freedom in being me at the piano. And something very weird is happening! I don't want to stop practicing, haha!! I'm like, who is this person at the keyboard? I get disappointed when my alarm goes off because it means I have to stop! That's a miracle ;)..Just wanted to share. I have much work to do, but now feel free to have fun expressing myself, my life's journey as I learn the piano. Now, when I practice it's enjoyable. A totally different approach. Love it!

Dan, I just want to thank you for your brilliant videos.  I am a retired 64 yr carer and needed a hobby.  Bought my piano a few weeks ago and loving it.  These videos are really helping but I will need to spend a lot of time before I progress onto  nos. 6.  The whole, whole, half is so helpful knowing how scales and chords are formed.  Thanks again.

Dan, I'm taking my time with this lesson. I've spent over a month on it and still not close to the middle but I know it's worth it because I'm learning it the right way. Thanks again:)

Dan, this is the hardest I've worked in a long time and I've not even past the major 7th yet which means I've not even gone past the 1st quarter of this video. It's good practice tho. Thanks a million!

It has taken me longer to watch this series than expected but I have not moved on until I've got a good grip on the lesson before and I truly feel like i take much away from each video. So thanks for the free education! Seriously! This video was particularly exciting and inspired me to comment because for the first time I understood the more complex pieces that you were playing as an example and they didnt seem so complex anymore. Not even just the piano but music in general. I'm a logical person, not very creative as far as painting, or drawing ect but having a logical way to be creative is so much fun for me. I don't know one song yet but I can sit at the keyboard for hours playing. I even play the trumpet and other instruments on the keyboard and it so much fun. The "begin to discover yourself" comment in the video really was inspiring. Just my long winded way of saying Thanks Again!

I'm not a player, (fingers not too agile at 70+ years) but I enjoy writing music and putting into a digital workstation (Reason). I've seen lots of chord progressions, but never with the dominant 7 added to all and the maj7 added to the ending I chord. It really adds richness. Also finding the info on using the different chord types to be most helpful. Great series. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your video. I already knew the number system and my chords but hearing you explain the 4 chords in just this lesson, I have so much more understanding. You have such a nice patient and thorough way of teaching. I am so thankful I found you. I have heard you before but I was just now ready to digest this particular video. I am going to listen to this and practice what I say over and over Thanks to you. You shared a great deal of valuable information. THANK YOU. GOD BLESS YOU,

This one was the most complicated for me to capture so far. I’ll be honest, I’ve not started actually playing on a keyboard yet. That will be delivered later this week. But watching the videos is helping prepare my mind as to what to expect and this one was tricky to understand. I suppose it will make more sense when I have a chance to put my hands on the keyboard itself. Again, I am not unfamiliar with a keyboard, but the complexities of chords and it variables will take time to learn. Hard to stop my brain thinking about what “can be” as opposed to “what is” now. My lack of patience will not help. A before B and B before C is practical. I need to remember I have to learn to walk before I can run.
