Panda Keyring Kit - Needle Felt Tutorial with ASMR

I was pleased by how much stuff the kit gives you including a needle, extra eyes and jump rings. The instructions were not helpful as they tell you to use far too much brown felt, especially as common needlefelt mistake is to use too much wool for small details, which results in clunky-looking characters. I redesigned my panda a bit to make it more kawaii.

TIP: If you don't have pink wool for the cheeks you can actually use real makeup. Simply use a small eyeshadow sponge to apply pink powder blush. Because the wool is white, it will show up quite well. This technique will not be that effective with darker wool colours.

@Nunya Bidness Hi! If you have a kit that tells you to rinse the ball in water then it's probably a "wet felting" kit. You can also turn wool into felt by using soapy water (there are tutorials for that on Youtube as well), but it's not as precise as needle-felting. Wet-felting is good for making round balls or random patterns but you won't be able to add details like the ears or eyes shown in this video. This kit was from Daiso and is not meant to be used with water.

@ Tatum Cheah Cheah Sorry to hear that. It's best to keep turning the piece while you work, basically poke from all angles, so the felt compresses evenly and you can control the shape better. As you noticed, if the felt becomes too dense then it's harder to change the form.

It would be ineffective. Felting needles are unique, for they have indentations along the sides, which is used to push down and intertwine the wool fibers. The regular sewing needle is smooth, so it could not work. They sell needles and wool at Michael's.
