It must have been quite an honor to revisit France with those men. Cheers James Madio, Ross McCall , Michael Cudlitz and the rest of the Band of Brothers cast and crew, for using the art of film to help your viewers remember the incredible acts of heroism of our WWII Veterans, particularly the men of Easy Company.

This is a segment from the American Valor event, where we honored Veterans of all generations — and we were honored with the presence of Veterans from WWII to the GWOT. Check the link in the bio for the full broadcast schedule.

Giving Hershey bars to the veterans is so clever and well thought out. It's so simple and so elegant and meaningful.

I traveled to Normandy in 2014 with 2 WWII US Veterans, 89 and 91 years old at the time. The French countrymen treated them like royalty. There was a 13 year old boy who lived almost 20 miles from one of our stops. That kid rode his bicycle all the way to meet these two men, even though he couldn't speak a word of english, and he was wearing an authentic GI uniform that had been handed down from his great grandfather. It has been passed down through generations in the rural French countryside of how the Americans liberated them. This gave me a newfound respect for the French.

Best 10 hours of television I’ve ever sat for. Absolutely amazing. Acting, fantastic. But the visuals of war were incredible. How they did it is truly mystifying. The last hour was something I know of completely, and I still was sickened. We have relatives that were ‘there’, and have heard first hand what it was like. But after seeing it (and all of the first nine hours), the tears just wouldn’t stop. And I’ve watched the series numerous times and the emotions are off the charts. Wow.

Being born in the early 80’s and having a Grandfather who fought against the Japanese in WW2 I always looked at these Men as the superheroes of our country. Sadly something happened in the past 10 years that has totally twisted that around but that’s another conversation for another place and time. What’s important is that we need to get back to honoring these Men who were the most badass generation. People today have zero clue the impact these Men made on the world. My Grandfather was playing for the Detroit Tigers living the good life at the time. Young Man with a pocket full of money playing the game he loved as his job. Then he went to fight and never played the game again. Moved to Lexington Ky and got a job as a surveyor with the University of Kentucky, built a home and had a family. So not only did these Men give up their lives (which is the ultimate sacrifice don’t get me wrong not comparing the two) but some, hell a lot gave up their dreams and ambitions to go and fight. I feel like a lot of “Men” these days couldn’t even fathom that much less do it. These Men should be like how kids treat movie stars and pro athletes. Should be running up asking for their autograph

I was in Belgium in 1983 for a large exercise. I was told that was the first time since the war that we had served in Belgium. I was, in full field gear and camoed up, coming out of a bank, approached by about a dozen or so school kids who had only ever seen American combat soldiers in movies, or who had stories from their families. They were all asking for chocolate. Between my driver and I, we were able to pass out a john wayne bar to each kid. Totally made their day.

Long story short I was at a captains boat competition in france about 10 years ago. Our boat (USA) was held up in customs. The french crew let us borrow their boat. However, we did not have our flag as it was with our boat. An older french gentlemen heard we did not have a flag and went to get his. Well the guy brought back a hand sown 48 star flag from “when Americans were last here”. Let me tell you it was the most pristine and rich in color American flag I have ever seen. We were sure to fold it up properly and return it to him afterwards. This was in Brittany, France. Those people never forgot what the US did for them. They truly were the greatest generation🇺🇸

The Greatest Generation are leaving us everyday, so few of them are even left. It is devastating to miss their wisdom which we so desperately need in today’s world. It took some years for many of us in the Baby Boom Generation to understand and appreciate what our parents gave us, but we did learn as we aged. Hopefully our children and grandchildren will see and hear these stories of our fathers and mothers. Hopefully we will have taught them as well as they did for us because even our time is soon to pass. If we, as parents have done well, what we leave behind they will inherit.

The greatest generation should never be forgotten, the only war that really needed to be fought, my father and his mates were all ww2 british veterans, their personal demeanor was a credit to them . I drove trucks to the continent and was priviliged to be in normandy on the 50th anniversary, met many allied vets, the respect shown to them after all the years since D Day was awesome Brits Canadians and Americans , the one thing they all had in common was the loss of friends that they never forgot

One of the best, emotinal (from a veterans stand point) series I've ever enjoyed. The wrap up of the 2 guys who lost opposite legs shopping for shoes together still killed me

If you have ever worn the 101st patch, and if you ever do travel into the areas they had been in, you'll find one helluva welcome everywhere you go.

They, remember us.
