It's just been pointed out to me that this 48 inch model doesn't come with the EX panel. So apologies for that, .totally my fault.
But with that said it still looks bloody amazing and It still looked bright enough in my viewing environment, unless on an angle where the reflections could come into play, as shown in this video. 🙂

Finally got to see the 807 side-by-side with an LG G2 in a dedicated demo room a couple of days ago. After an hour and 10 minutes with just these 2 tv's my conclusion may well be controversial among the AV community .... in 95% of scenarios ranging from streaming 4k HDR (Dolby Vision & HDR10), streaming HD & SD (iPlayer, All4 etc) all the way down to live broadcast SD (E4+1) the simple fact is the Philips 48OLED807 was more impressive than the LG G2 55 .... HOW ???!!! ... on paper and in all the online reviews the G2 should be superior in every aspect, even more shocking when you consider the 48 inch version of the 807 doesn't even have an EX panel. And yes, I did also go through the picture settings to make sure I wasn't going mad 🤣. The only time my eyes were drawn away from the 807 to the G2 was during a stream of the Netflix show "Drink Masters" as the G2 clearly had brighter HDR highlights. HOWEVER.. (and here's even more shockers) the 807 was far more detailed in micro elements such as bubbles in the drinks and the presenters chin stubble, the G2 was brighter but detail seemed to be scrubbed out by the extra I have 3 major lessons from this intimate demo experience .. DEMO, DEMO and DEMO 😉... until you see your 2 favourite tv's side by side in a proper demo environment you will never really know what actually works for you and fits your expectations 👍.
Edit: Almost forgot to mention ... my 55OLED807 arrives today ... despite the 55 G2 currently being cheaper.

The 48” do not have the ex panel. Confirmed by Philips. That I would say is a pretty important thing to correct. Also the 807 with ex panel don’t measure higher nits then the 807. You need to get the 9th series to get the heat sink also which would help with higher nits.
Also not sure what more tests you will do but when playing games in VRR mode you have bad chroma so text can look very blurry, personally I only notice it in the desktop not during games. So display mode have to be used to get better chroma.

Gonna get the 77 inch for 2990 eur this week! Cant wait, designed a new wall for the thing, i hope its gonna be worth it. I guess im gonna buy new TV every 5 years or so, might as well as invest in the experience for that timeframe. Thanks for the test, it eased my concern of not being bright enough.

Hey brother great content, I remember seeing in previous vid aboit tbe ambilight not being color correct, There is an option to change 'wall color' once you do this it will be perfect, enjoy..

Nice video. I've got the 55inch. And the bend on the reflection is the same on mine. You'll find two points top and near the bottom. Figured this is probably due where the rear case fixes on to the panel. Doesn't effect the picture quality. Amazing tv

Excellent daytime testing Paul,
I suppose the best of both worlds, the ambilight and an LG screen behind the scenes.
I hope you are all well pal 👍🏻
