The motto on the seal of the united states, the seal of the united states senate, and the seal of the president of the united states, is "E Pluribus Unum" Not "In GOD We Trust.

E pluribus unum — Latin for "Out of many, one"

Makes me feel patriotic just hearing it.

Far better than the trash we have now.

I know two people that died because insurance companies refused to pay for life saving treatment and the hospitals refused to save a life because they wanted green slips of paper.

You know that 'god' we're supposed to trust in? He didn't do jack shit either.

I'm glad this was so fucking important for our nation's leaders to spend their time on.

I think we should be reminded that "in god we trust" is the motto, so people can remember to get rid of that shit.

ITS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB TO CREATE JOBS. If the government wants to create jobs they need to stay out of the private sector, loosen regulations and lower taxes. The only way we can lower takes and lower the debt is to cut all of these useless government programs.

I love the fact that they think 'In God We Trust' needs re-affirming.

Shows they realize they're starting to lose ground.

It is utterly impossible for an intelligent person to believe that this is an appropriate use of Congress's time.

This a most sarcastic individual presentation I have heard!

"E Pluribus Unum" included in the Seal of the United States, being one of the nation's mottos at the time of the seal's creation.

The Great Seal was first used publicly in 1782.

174 years later, "In God We Trust" was adopted as the "official" motto of the United States.

"In God we Trust" was a cold war move, I dont think it was ever intended to be permanent.

Take a black permanent marker and cover the "In God We Trust" on every bill that passes through your hands and write "What about jobs?"

The whole American political system needs to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch. End this idiocy in Congress. End corporate lobbyists and lets get some real politicians into office.

You know,
These disputes are the reasons why I stopped trusting the Government.

@Lodatzor It was not officially our motto until 1956, but it comes from one of the verses from our national anthem " and this be our motto: In God is our Trust." During our Civil War, the 125th Pennsylvania Infantry for the Union Army used the motto "In God We Trust" in early August 1862. But most of our founding fathers were religious, the Constitution contains passages that are practically bible scriptures rewritten.

P.S. Thanks for having respect and not cussing.

What the fuck does "In God we trust" even mean? The more I think about it, the more it just seems to sound like "Good luck."

That's a depressing motto.
