So they were basically stressed out of their minds constantly and dealt with it through humorous commentary? Now I know why I've always found them so relatable.

It's interesting to think that B1's seem to do a lot better as long as someone is commanding them around like an organic commander, tactical battledroid, or a super tactical battledroid. Even Grievous, who notoriously despised them, seemed to be able to get them to get their clanking together and to perform their jobs rather alright, all things considered. However, as soon as you remove the person/droid telling them what to do from the equation, the B1's just fall apart...usually quite literally. Poor droids.

Sidious: Grievous is too smart, we need to nerf his tactical skills.
Dooku: We can make his subordinates annoying.
Sidious: Program them to be as talkative as the representative of Naboo.

I love how they can come up with complicated and detailed reasons for overlooked changes in the canon.

B1's are kinda insane. Being able to recognize an older b1 number just by looking at their head.
I always thought they were programmed to react to their environment slightly and still be loyal to their command.

I also noticed that their battle tactics were Smarter in ep1. Instead of just walking towards the enemy, they took cover.

I saw a Star Wars comic where a B-1 was heavily damaged and regained consciousness with full sentience. It knew its battery will shut down soon and be discovered or just recycled and return to back to its programming. Along the way, it ran into a run-down super battle droid and had an exchange of ideas between the one with a programmed brain and the sentient one. It was sad and amazing but I can’t remember how it “died”. It came back to life but lost its sentience.

I always wondered why they talked too much. Then again it never bothered me. But they do say some pretty funny things. If anyone asks me who the funniest characters are in Star Wars, it's always going to be the B1 battle droids.

the concept of droids becoming not only sentient but straight up sapient (the level of awareness humans have the displeasure of having) by simply being advanced enough and NOT memory wiped opens an entire can of existential worms that i fucking LIVE FOR, its ALMOST as good as stuff from like Ghost in the shell when it comes to exploring the thin line of what is a ''real'' consciousness.

Lucas: lets make the B1s into comedy relief characters.

Geetsly: now let us tell you why you made some of the most depressing characters in the whole of the clone wars.

Am i the only one who noticed how ON-5 and ON-7 B1 battle droids kept showing up in the clone wars series? They would get killed snd then show up again a few episodes later seemingly with their memories intact. I distinctly remember them trying to have their fellow druids NOT shoot at jedi because they would deflect and stuff like that.

Edit: they also mentioned each other by name on geonosis during the clonewars series. One of them falling behind and "dying" in the sandstorm. But hes back a few eps later. Most persistant duo ever!

I've always liked how strangely polite they are. It never fails to cheer me up

I always enjoy the occasional "Die, Republic dogs!" In those iconic nasally voices. Is that just me😅

The best droid moment is in the bad batch when the clones reactivate the B1’s in the smelting factory and one says “Did we win” I found that so amusing 😂😂😂😂😂

I preferred them being of the non-chatty kind back in the CWMMP days, so I don't have the burden of ever pitying them... and yet have the feeling of pride when a select number of them became independent, one way or another.

I love that Obi Wan showed the droid some compassion and didn’t destroy him, he just locked the cell.

My head cannon is that they needed to program a General Purpose Droid OS, but they cheaped out, found a Nemoidian office worker who had been working for decades without a promotion figuring he was loyal enough, and then destructively scanned/copied his neural map and deleted his memory and installed it in B1's figuring he had many jobs and would be good enough for a "General Purpose A.I." .

This would explain a LOT

Technology tends to be rather talkative when you give it a voice.

It makes sense that when we see them blasted or sliced en masses, that they stopped being scary, and instead the creatives leaned in to comedy.

This is exactly why I want a rogue B1 or other droid bounty hunter in “The Bad Batch.”
