Corinthos is a major port in the North Peloponnese, the third largest city in the region and a continuation of ancient Corinthos. With great archaeological interest the city attracts many tourists, both Greek and foreigners throughout the year. Ancient Corinthos is the area where a prehistoric settlement from 5,000 BC was discovered.

At the southern end of the municipality rises the rock of Akrokorinthos with the famous castle, used continuously since ancient times until the revolution of 1821 and played a key role in Greek history.
