I understand Claire because not all of Phil’s ideas to have fun or for him and his family to have fun are great. But the RV trip was really a great idea and it was going great. I didn’t like Claire cynically believed Haley, Alex, and Luke could never behave and get along together as siblings for one day and (even though it’s mainly comedy purposes and I’m aware of it) I especially didn’t like that she tried to enforce that and the RV trip being a bad idea by goading the kids into arguing and fighting. It led to Phil angrily snapping at not only the kids, but also Claire for it, in Phil’s words 2:40 "Obviously it was too much to ask to think that we could take one magnificent trip in a tricked out, state of art RV to see the sun dancing off the Pacific! What a huge ask!"
