Colors of the Wind (Acapella Collaboration)

It is an honor for us to collaborate with MOFA (Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and with K.Y.Y. (a singer of Korean Traditional music).
We were moved while working on this project because the message is that despite our different skin colors, we are not different.

As a huge disney pocahontes fan, i loved this cover, acapella is very difficult and i have such a great appreciation for the second half of the song with all the details of the sounds, the voices were magnifcent. i loved this!

....I'm just a 90's Disney loving girl weeping alone from the beauty and nostalgia of this rendition. Despite its problematic storytelling, I really loved the music and animation of Disney's Pocahontas. I'm so glad I came across this channel.

From that dramatic intro section with the strong alternating notes, changing of the shape of the "ah" vowel at 0:29-0:30 and the lovely transition to the main song!

Loved Soo-kyung's initial legato "instrument" notes at 0:46, her chest tone as the main lead of the "Colors of the Wind", her enunciation on the Word "creature" at 1:05" stayed with me (different from usual covers of the song). She did just enough to make it her own. Young-hoon's piercing mask voice for the next verse at 1:11 was a delightful and attention-grabbing change and Soo-young completed the trilogy of Maytree leads!

The traditional instrument mimic by Soo-kyung at 1:58 was a gorgeous sound (she's great at changing her timbre to imitate instruments - I love the sound and dynamics of that actual instrument, Erhu?, by the way), and of course K.Y.Y. has a warm expansive voice (loved his more breathy introductory legato flowing notes starting at 2:06) . If love to hear him sing a ballad in Korean. The two males duetting at the end 's the others supported them was grand.

Harmonies totally in point all through. Soo-young, Sang-in, and of course the ever-present Won-jong played their mostly parts perfectly. I enjoyed the intricate staccato backing melodies and harmonies when K.Y.Y was singing his solo.

Truly you guys sang with different colors. 💚 A well-oiled collaborative music machine, that is Maytree!
