Thank you for tuning in to Covers of the Wind this week <3!
This is probably my second favourite Disney song of all time, and I think the lyrics have a really important message, especially right now. I hope you enjoyed my take on Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas this week! xo

Do you know what I love about this rendition? He sings with a tone of anger that other versions don't. There is definitely valid anger and indignation in this song for the wrongs done by the colonisers in thier ignorance cw

He is DEFINITELY Italian; he also sings with his hands.

I hear the anger in your voice and I love it. It's not something I've heard before and it flows well.

Well, this is now the definitive version for me.
The anger and frustration that *should* be in the song are present, but it still holds all the beauty of the original.
It's perfect, ...and honestly it's a bit inspiring too.

Does there exist a more beautiful melody than Colors of the Wind?? If there is, don’t let me listen to it because I might just die of joy...😂😂

Hearing this music makes me want to bundle up with pillows and blankets, put in earbuds at max volume and cry (from happy tears of course <3). This music brings nostalgia from not only how I grew up on Disney, but also how my mom is a musician and plays the most calming and beautiful music on piano. When I was younger, I would listen to recordings of the music she made for me and my sisters to listen to before we went to bed when we were toddlers.

I feel so lucky that I grew up with these characters, films, songs… the nostalgia hits hard 🥲🥲

I love, the old Disney songs but this one hits me a bit differently!
I am 26 years old and I have shivers when I hear the intro of this song with the piano… idk 🥲

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knew

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

How high will the sycamore grow
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colors of the wind

You can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind

You can own the *E*arth (planet) and still
All you own is *e*arth (soil/dirt) until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind.

Magnificent.

I just binge listened to a bunch of male covers of this song, and this was the first one. But I returned to this one because I think this is the best version. Your vid deserves to be the first one to show up when I searched for this, this is great!

Edit: This is also the only one of them that kept me interested enough to listen all the way through
