I'm glad this was explained but... goodness that's a process having come to S1 (5 Pro) from Reason where you can; right click something you want to move via midi device > Midi-learn > Move a midi control knob so it picks it up = done.

Hi Gregor.
I just received an Akai APC mini for Christmas so this video helped a lot, thanks.
However, I can't seem to find anything to help with assigning a fader to multiple instances of Kontakt instruments. - For example, I have Spitfire's Studio Strings and have set up each section (Violins 1&2, violas, celli and basses) to run through one instance of Kontakt in multiple chanels. I can assign the faders (Dynamics, Expression, Vibrato etc) to one instrument, but not to all of them... Assigning to the next instrument in the list cancels the first MIDI learned.

Is there a way around this?

Thanks, this is helpful. However, this is probably the most confusing/counter-intuitive setup process, compared to the overall ease of use of S1. Which is why - as I just realized - I have stopped assigning MIDI parameters altogether in S1. I had to look up a tutorial every time I wanted to assign anything, so I gave up to avoid a buzzkill. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things as I'm mostly studio-based, but if I was a live performer with an advanced MIDI setup, I'd have a bigger ax to grind.
Also, my understanding is that whatever MIDI assignments I create, they become global, meaning - they will be automatically used in my new sessions that I create (regardless of song template I select). Is there a way to create/store MIDI assignment presets for session-specific setups?
Anyway, thank you for the video - bookmarked for future MIDI exercises!

Hi Gregor, in Studio One, how do we assign a CC MIDI to multiple tracks and use a fader/button? I want to enable/disable my tracks. It seems I can only have one fader/button for one track.

Is there a way to assign the same controls for the things that the Atom SQ does in the timeline editor (loop start and end, playhead scrub, loop location change, etc...) to another controller? I have my Akai Mpk249 all set up almost perfectly but I can't figure out how to emulate this behavior using the knobs.

Hello Gregor, I would like to automate lyric video on a live show. Is it possible to do within studio one or is there any other way to use Studio One Show Page for backing tracks and Ableton only for video?

It has always worked great for me. 😊 Only endless encoders (and any 14 bit encoders) don't work out of the box without editing the according XML files.
Speaking of which, I really wish there'd be some kind of docs for controller integration in general regarding XML and JS API. 😬

In my Studio One it’s doesn’t show MIDI learn (I have an Akai MPK Mini) in the manual it said the 8 knobs are assignable but I can’t figure out how pls help
