I love to travel and even studied abroad. I will never go back to Naples, Italy! My friend and I were profiled. I’m just happy to finally be home safely.

Honestly, I don't travel to Europe and more because I can't deal with the racism. I work too hard for my money to support countries that do not respect me. I just want to say to my African American sisters and brothers, that the world is big, and there are plenty of places that appreciate us, but most Europeans countries do not. Italy is anti-black and has been for a very long time. I now travel to Latin America where I am treated very well and it's my pleasure to compensate them. Consider traveling to Latin America, Africa or Asia. They also have ruins, beaches, mountains and fun things to do. And the humanity there is unbelievable.
Peace and love!

I’m not of colour and I was still treated very rudely by the locals. Unfortunately Italians aren’t welcoming towards people who aren’t their own kind.

1:15, you were not wrong for filming, you need to document these things cos people won't believe you if you don't, these people need to be exposed!!!

I’m so sorry that you and your friend had to go through that. Situations such as what you went through, saddens and angers me. I can tell speaking of your experience was difficult. Thank you for sharing your story.

I went on to Sicily in 2014 and it was horrifying. I'm Muslim and live in the U.K, once we got to the airport they shouted at us! The locals were vile towards us and the the whole entire holiday traumatised me. I never went on holiday again.

So sorry that you experienced that. A group of friends and I just got back from Rome (Roma) and was profiled at the airport as well. Not as aggressive as what you went through but we were heavily questioned by airport security and our names and passport numbers were written down, everyone else around us were left alone. This was after we went through customs and all the necessary check points. Very stressful

What is it called when airport security pulls me to the side to ask questions? It’s happened several times. I’m white.

My white friends went there & were treated poorly. I don't know if its a problem just with black folks.I think it's a problem with anyone who isn't Italian.

Work sent my to Italy for 4 yrs. My experience as a black American woman is that Italy was being overrun by African refugees seeking asylum there. The Italians don't like it much just as we don't like our borders being overrun. Numerous times I was mistaken for a "lady of the evening" despite not being dressed like one. Once I stated I was an American that worked at the naval base I was treated well. Spain was the same way when I lived and worked there.

Yup, Italy is off my list of places I’d travel to

Girl you don't know but that American passport saved you, Italian police is the most racist police in Europe, if you were African, Southern American or Caribbean you would have been treated much worse and I'm speaking as a person who was born and bred in Italy.

Yeah in Italy there's a lot of microagressions.from italians towards stranger, I live and was born in Italy so I've more expirience with Italians than american tourists. It's not only from officer with powers but from the locals too, in the nation there's no such thing as a good job for black people.
