Lebanese style rice milk

Ingredients:
• 3/4 cup of Egyptian rice washed
• 1 1/4 cup hot water
• 8 cups liquid milk
• 1 cup sugar
• 4 tbsp orange blossom water
• 1/2 tsp checked mastic with a sprinkle of sugar
• 1/2 cup crushed pistachios

Preparation:
• Wash the rice and soak it in the hot water for one hour.
• Put the rice with the soaking water in a saucepan on the fire.
• Leave the rice boil with stirring, to not stick, for about 10 minutes.
• Add the milk to the rice and continue stirring for 45 minutes.
• Add sugar to rice and milk and stir well for 5 minutes.
• Add the mastic and then the orange blossom water and leave the mixture boil for 3 minutes.
• Pour the mixture in small plates and sprinkle with pistachios.
• Leave to cool at room temperature, then put in refrigerator and served cold.

No need to stir for 40 mins. I boil I cup rice in three cups water then put it in low and cover to steam. But keep stirring, when it’s cooked I put the rice into 1 litre boiling milk stir for five minutes add sugar and vanilla cover and turn off heat and let it cool down. Very easy to start of with already cooked rice.

Hello will the pudding be thick without corn starch? What if it’s too watery? Thx!
