It’s the situation many of us have been in: we have a get-it-done, make-it-happen attitude, we work so hard, we don’t say no to ANYTHING. And then what happens? We become overwhelmed with work, our attention pulled in many different directions, and our core job functions, our actual work we need to get done, suffers.

We don't know how to tell our boss no, how to say no to people and coworkers, and other managers.

The bottom line is you need to start saying no to more things, even sometimes if your boss is asking! Focusing your time and setting boundaries is important for any professional.

I said “I’m hesitant to do that” rather than “No, I won’t do that” to training an employee, and that I’ll train someone else. Due to the fact that employee is verbally abusive to me and toxic. My manager said, “to be successful in your career, you have to work with ppl you don’t like.”

I’m quitting this job I love, that I’m really great at. I can’t be abused at work anymore. Sad, but had to move on.

I have learned to say no in my late 30's and now I'm 43... I can't always say no; however IF I have other priorities that is above and beyond then I say no. For example...doing someone elses job and having to neglect my own work. I hate it.

Thank you. Good tip in theory. Tried most of it. But, does not always work if you have a stubborn, demanding Boss. I guess I only have to stick to tip no 1. and if he still insisted and continued nagging (which had happened and will continue), I have to start procastinating from my end.
