Drawing a face with pencil - QUICK SKETCH TECHNIQUE #5

In this video I’m drawing a face with pencil using a reference photo of a man in a hat. I’m using a quick sketching technique to capture the expression of the face. The line work in this sketch is with a charcoal pencil on standard cartridge paper. I like this photo because of the real character the old fashioned hat and jacket give but it also will be a bit of a challenge as they cover up some of the face used to structure the sketch. Hopefully in this speed sketch you will be able to pick up some tips on how to sketch a face quickly!

Amazing.
Truthfully, I've been favoring these sorts of quick sketching styles more than the extremely detailed and photo-realistic ones. I suppose I'm more easily impressed with what someone can make with such little time.

That, and this style is reminiscent of how Arthur Morgan from RDR2 sketches in his journal.

I'm fascinated with the technique of getting the image down quickly, implying details rather than painstakingly drawing each micro detail, and how the brain puts it all into a solid image at the end of it.
