I have basic knowledge on arts but not as fine as this... Clearly people dont agree that it is for beginners... Because they dont listen to how it was made.. its the basic process she is telling for every beginner .. she makes a sketch not for beginners but the process she is explaing is the basic and the most importan thing .. so very much thankful for this tutorial.. it really helps❤..for beginners like just listen for the basic tips how to sketch dont look at it and say its not for beginners

Sometimes YouTube videos teach us more stuff than a real teacher does. Respect from one artist to another!

It took me 5 hours and honestly I got a completely different looking face which was exactly what I was going for since I wanted to make a unique/non-existent face. I can’t thank you enough for not only taking the time to make the details so DETAILED but also for showing us how much unexplored talent lies within each and every one of us. Thank you Emily🍅

I haven't drawn a sketch in years, and was never anywhere close to this level.
This video motivated me to pick up my old hobby again & try to improve. Great work and thank you.

I have learned so much watching your tutorial. When I had trouble figuring out the guidelines, I thought I there was no hope for me, but once I got them onto the paper, it was a game changer. Also, I changed to Mixed Media paper and that made all the difference for my shading. The tissue blends much smoother. Your talent is impressive!

"You are not a copy machine so try to enjoy yourself" Thank you for that. I really needed to hear that. I'm trying to be a more realistic artist in order to upgrade my art skills and sometimes I forget that things don't have to look exactly like the original.

It's incredibly beautiful, I'm amazed, if I saw the steps, I wouldn't believe it was a painting, I feel like I know their personality, it's like they know me, thank you for displaying your art.

in summary:
- use proportion guidelines (if you don't have an ipad, you can print the photo and draw the guidelines on there)
- draw the guidelines very lightly (i personally use hb for guidelines)
- if you don't have a blender at home, use can use a paintbrush or tissue
- draw with light pressure. if you want to go darker use a darker graphite pencil. if you are confident, you can try harder pressure by try doing that at the end
- if you're doing a greyscale pencil sketch, try printing or changing your reference photo to greyscale as well
- pay attention to the highlights and shadows (where the light is coming from)
- try drawing hair in smaller sections then slowly add on
- don't try and draw each individual strand of hair (aside from one or two hairs that may be poking out)
and don't be too hard on yourself! good luck all

I have a passion for drawing portraits. This video really gives me some insight on how I can improve my skills on drawing hair realistically. I've been doing this stuff since I was a sophomore in high school and I'm always trying to find ways to experiment and improve every time I do a drawing. I use an ebony pencil and blending stumps to do my work - blending stumps are your BEST FRIEND when doing a drawing because the shades come out clean and you're able to include minute details in the work. I always take pride in the small details and seeing the look on the person's face when I show them the finished work. Thank you for your demonstration on this video.
