Thanks man! I really love your videos! I just started a daily vlog but I don't have a lot of experience with cameras or film making so I got a Gopro 9 just to focus on getting my mind wrapped around the story telling aspect of a daily vlog--- how to keep it interesting and such. This video really helped me out!

I've used the Gopro 9 for about 3 months now and have made about 20 videos. Now that I feel like I have the editing, daily vlog work flow and basic videography under my belt with the Gopro 9, I think that I'm ready to move onto a more serious camera! BUT I highly recommend the Gopro 9 for anyone looking to get their toes wet before they jump into the ocean that is VLOGGING.

Just a little FYI, EV Comp stands for Exposure Value Compensation rather than Composition. It’s meant to compensate for when you have a scene with something like lots of snow. The camera will try to get an average across the bord at a middle-grey in terms of light value so you get the most useful exposure, but when you have snow (just for a simple example, but could be sand in the sun, or if you’re shooting in the shade with a really bright background as other examples) the camera tries to make the snow look grey which drops your exposure. You turn up the EV Comp because snow is meant to look white, not grey, and because if you don’t, your subject will look too dark. This could go the other way too, like where you’ve got a dark background but you’re properly lit up, so the camera tries to balance the dark background upwards so you can see more detail in the shadow, but then your subject winds up too bright looking in the video output.

Thank you for posting a link to Chamonix. Such a beautiful place. I love snow but my experience has been limited to the American Rockies in winter plus one day each in New Zealand and Mt Kosciusko. I am very impressed with how well the GoPro deals with snow. I know it is part of their “thing” but lots of shades of white is not the easiest of subjects for any camera.
