John Cooper on Life In A Day

John Cooper, Director of the Sundance Film Festival, talks about Life In A Day, a historic cinematic experiment to create a user-generated documentary film shot in a single day. On July 24, you have 24 hours to capture your life on camera. The most compelling footage will be edited into a documentary film, produced by Ridley Scott, directed by Kevin Macdonald and set to premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. If your videos is selected for the film, you could win a trip to the Sundance premiere!

@sonicricki Exactly! Just search One Day on Earth on YouTube and see what they launched over three months ago. They put out a date of 10-10-10 for the film input. There are just too many similarities to think that Life in a Day thought of this first. But they are the Goliath and One Day on Earth is the David. I'm voting for and supporting the David!

Mr. Cooper,
I am truly disheartened by this move by the Sundance Festival: supporting a concept before a film has even been produced and before it has been competitively selected from among all the independent filmmakers submitting real films and aspiring to be be selected and shown at Sundance. Do we have to be Hollywood moguls now to get an "in" with Sundance? And think of the advantage this gives Life In A Day over the true innovators of this concept at One Day On Earth. This is not fair.
